They keep this up it won’t be long before they loose the Falkland Islands. If the West then does nothing, what next?

Given that English Liberals have turned the formerly-Great Britain into a multicultural toilet, who would want it?

They should officially change the name to “Average Britain.”

Under the proposed cuts, the British army will be down to 96,000 soldiers. That’s near Taliban levels. Pitiful.

Meanwhile, the socialized British health care system is not being cut. The sacred cow National Health Service — the biggest bureaucracy in Western Europe — is taking no hits.

Obama is bringing socialized medicine to the United States. Pretty soon our own army will be down to 96,000 troops.

The "lack of cash" is merely a symptom of Britain's self-loathing.

I believe the NHS is also the second biggest employer in the world.

NHS is world’s biggest employer after Indian rail and Chinese Army

Just think of how big our version of it will be.

The article doesn’t put this in the context of the other spending cuts. At 8% Defence has, in fact, got off relatively lightly. Some other spending departments are down by 30-40%, with big cuts particularly in benefits and social housing. An estmated 490,000 public sector jobs will go. Overall, this is the most significant at-a-stroke reduction in the size of government in modern British history - bigger than Margaret Thatcher ever attempted.

And France and Spain are too poor to attack.

And think about the “trickle down” impact this will have on private sector jobs that are in place to provide goods and services to the UK armed forces, as well as all the other public sector jobs. This will definitely be a negative force multiplier for those in the immediate vicinity.

Speaking to the BBC, Clinton said British defense cuts are worrisome. “I think we do have to have an alliance where there is a commitment to the common defense. NATO has been the most successful alliance for defensive purposes in the history of the world, I guess, but it has to be maintained.

Way to really make the case, Hillary. You could sell sand to the Saudis with a pitch like that.

And we'll witness similar cutbacks in America soon. We're broke!

Thanks for the ping, I've been reading similar reports over the last few days with trepidation.

Only temporarily.

Once they are overtaken by the Mohammedans, and the demographics are devastatingly headed in that direction within one or two generations, they will be a Mohammedan nation, as beligerant as all Mohammedan nations.

They may even try to reunite with their American colonies, since the demographics don’t look too good for us, either, with respect to Mohammedans.

multi-culturalism is not bad — if those people are Christians.

I’d like to think that post is a joke, alas FR is full of people like you who have the most ridiculous idea of what Britain 2010 is like or what Britain has been like for the last 30-40 years.

I bet your reply even has the myth about Mohammed being the most popular name in Britain.....

We wont lose the islands.

The much-larger-than-1982 garrison there would shoot to pieces any invasion. And Britain still has the air and sea capacity to defend the islands and launch a task force.
