Theres no denying the enormous, life-changing and positive impacts U.S. Rep. Jim Oberstar has had on Northeastern Minnesota. From rescuing Eveleth Taconite to landing Cirrus Aviation for Duluth to making safe the death trap that was Minnesota Highway 8 to getting the Bong Bridge built, his list of achievements practically stretch the length of the massive, 18-county 8th Congressional District, where Oberstar has served admirably as representative since 1974.

His opponent, on the other hand, Republican Chip Cravaack, represents what Congress, including Minnesotas 8th Congressional District, needs at this critical crossroads in American history. A pro-business, fiscally conservative, former Navy captain, with a masters degree in education, Cravaack has smarts. He is articulate, reasoned and composed. More critically, he has specific and promising strategies to pull the nation out of its financial funk.

Hi, there, my friend! Great thread....and I think it’s just
the right time for Duluth to have the blinders taken off.
I would relish it nearly as much as you would! :)
Nope...you’re not! :D
Duluth-Republican? = Miracle!
This was an interesting piece that I found on Facebook (on a Republican page), of all places....
Governor Pawlenty Welcomes Obama Back to Minnesota
.....and gives him a lesson on Minnesota "vocabulary" LOL!
No. I think it is counterproductive. I guess that I just do not understand the point of emphasizing how everything sucks just for the sake of it. Things are what they are. I think we just have to deal with whatever we are facing and stay as positive as we can. If we want to overcome the obstacles facing us, we can. If we decide it is all rigged agaionst us and there is no way to win, than we will not. I think negative people generally suck, but that’s just my opinion.
That is how Obama won. An America Sucks campaign all the way. It is good to be an Optimist but not so good to be Optimistic when there is no logical reason to be so. That is a recipe for disaster. Should one be optimistic that Obama Ponzinomics will work?
WELCOME TO FREE REPUBLIC’S MINNESOTA PING LIST!
142 MEMBERS AND GROWING...!
FREEPMAIL ME IF YOU WANT ON OR OFF THIS LIST!
Is it named for Dick Bong....MoH winner?
It is indeed. The Ace of Aces himself.
What’s really interesting, aside from the fact that they endorsed Cravaack, was instead of gently saying that it’s time for Oberstar to retire, using the rationale that the incoming GOP control of the House would mean that the district is better off with Cravaack, they took a couple of really good whacks at Oberstar..
They hit him hard. Oberstar is a classic old-school Democrat, toes the party line, is incapable of original thought and has never admitted his party was ever wrong. People here are very angry with him. Whether there are enough to form a voting majority is anyone’s guess.
Thanks..BTW..if you psot anymore on this race, kindly ping me..
Thanks..BTW..if you post anymoreon this race, kindly ping me..
My pleasure and will do.
Ping me, too, please? :D You know I want the best for your area...and
Oberstar ain’t it! LOL!
No, one should not be optimistic if things continue unchanged. I hope we will be able to fix the stuff that is wrong. I realize our country has huge problems and nothing is very certain right now. I try to hope for the best and prepare for the worst. I guess we’ll just have to see how everything plays out. I think that most people here know how bad things are and how they could deteriorate. The folks that need to be informed of the seriousness of our situation are the ones still voting D because they honestly believe that the ‘Rat socialists love our country and are operating in their interest.
The Rats are running through money like it comes off of trees. You can not spend insanely like they are and then tell people who have paid in ti social security for 40 years. Sorry we are broke. The Rats have got to go.
