Obama's Gaffe About Shovel-Ready Jobs
by Phyllis Schlafly October 22, 2010
All sides admit that jobs are the number-one issue in 2010, but only three weeks before the crucial make-or-break congressional election on November 2, Obama casually admitted that his claim last year that his Stimulus spending bill would create 3.5 million "shovel-ready jobs" was not true.
Fox News played six video clips from different Obama speeches bragging that his $787 Billion Stimulus bill would create millions of "shovel-ready jobs." Now, Obama admits that those things he talked about never existed.
He played his Democratic majority in Congress for suckers. He conned them into voting Yes for the Stimulus bill, while Republicans stood their ground and unanimously voted No.

"Mark Shields commented, "How would you like to be a Democratic member of the House fighting for your life right now, getting hit over the head for having voted for the Stimulus bill, and have the President say in the New York Times Sunday Magazine, 'there's no such thing as shovel-ready projects'?"
There's no such thing as shovel-ready projects? As if we didn't know.
There might not have been any shovel-ready projects back then, but I think there’s a few pick-ready projects at the local correctional facility.
Well, I guess nearly anything the ‘rats say is shovel-ready ... to shovel all the BS off you when they finish speaking.
Barry may be a liar but he sure knows how to make his liberal “male” supporters faint.
There are some shovel ready projects, but nothing employing millions of people. I have noticed a lot of re-paving and sewer work being done around here over the past year, but usually involving 10-20 people working on site.
Lots of repaving projects on our roads as well. And I’m sure your roads work dept. erected rather large signs reminding the public that Obama’s putting people to work.
A majority of the roads being worked on had already been paved not too long ago. I’ve noticed that the road crews will work on busy streets and the highway, rather than the much needed work on side streets. That’s because the administration wants high visibility in an effort to convince the public that their money’s and government’s working for them.
Sure they’re working for us alright. We’re paying guys to repave roads just to pay them. Well, someone’s got to put up a front.
Every time our family drives by one of these projects I say, “there’s a our earned dollars at work; paving roads which don’t need paving”.
Sorry coloradan, post #6 was in response to OCC’s post.
I went out for a drive today and on a major city street, saw so many potholes that had little warning circles spray-painted around them, I was tempted to count them but had to keep my eyes out for the other cars. :-)
LOL!
“He played his Democratic majority in Congress for suckers.”
This is nothing but an attempt to take heat off the losing dems.
Give me a break. This is like saying the driver of the getaway car how no idea that he just participated in a bank robbery.
The dems were involved in this up to their earlobes.
Obama, Reid, Pelosi, MSM and the rest of those jackasses played America for suckers.
10 more days to victory.
how no idea=had no idea
“Sorry, I didn’t spend years of my life studying, training and preparing for a career to be handed a shovel.”
That makes the two of us, and the majority of Americans in this country.
You got that right, Gator113.
These clowns are scrambling to cover their posteriors. As if we couldn’t see.
10 more days to victory.

America, forget the polls, forget the media spin. Get out and vote to totally destroy the Dem Party on November 2, 2010.
The Rats are shovel-ready for the dust bin of history.
