Congressman Norm Dicks: 17-term incumbent Democrat in Washington. Chairman of the House Interior and Environment Appropriations Subcommittee. Represents a D+5 district that includes parts of Tacoma and Bremerton and Port Angeles. Barack Obama carried 57 percent of the vote; Dicks usually wins with 60some percent of the vote and hit above 70 percent a few times.

Doug Cloud is deputy prosecutor of Kitsap County.

As of October 13, Dicks had more than $511,000 cash on hand.

Cloud has $2,909 cash on hand.

And yet, here is this poll, suggesting the race stands at Cloud 48 percent, Dicks 44 percent.

GOP guy name Cloud has no money and he is ahead in the polls. He needs some help. Dick Morris, Rove, GOP, money bomb, anyone? This sounds like one the GOP needs to help out in.

Interesting. If WA-6 is in play, has anyone got info on WA-1? The only poll I found was from March and had a 14 point dem lead.

It looks like OR and WA are moving back our direction.

This GOP guy has no money and is up against a 17-year incumbent DEM who gets 60 to 70% wins!

These are the races Dick Morris is trying to raise money for. I gave a little to his group. Morris says there are 50 or more overlooked races he is trying to target and get money to. Races like this that no one thought a Repub could win.

I also gave money to this fellow in WA state even though I am on the East Coast. The Repub here sounds like a miracle worker. Anyone know how to ping the WA state FR’ers here?

One good thing is the Dem House groups is hotting a $17 million line of credit to try to save seats i.e. money is tight for the Dems.

He can get money if he kisses Karl’s ring and takes his number, 666, on his forehead.

It is incredible how polls (although largely GOP ones) show us with a chance of winning districts that six months ago we would have thought about, taken a stiff drink, squinted at its electoral history, and said “if we got a first-tier candidate to run, we’d still need a huuuuuge wave to have a chance to win.” For the most part we only got second- or third-tier candidates to run in those districts, but the GOP wave seems to be so gargantuan that it doesn’t seem to matter who the GOP candidate is. I predict that on November 2 we’ll win over a dozen seats that we didn’t even think were in play a month ago, and we’ll fall a bit short in a couple of dozen seats where we’ll be kicking ourselves for not having recruited first-tier challengers.

My husband and I voted for Doug Cloud.
Wow, that sure would be an upset if Cloud won!

Good point. I imagine the Rats were thinking along the same lines in 2006. And they did some excellent recruiting, came back strong in 2008 and took most of the ones they missed in ‘06.

That’s the way it is with wave elections work, I guess. A strong GOP presidential candidate in 2012, good recruiting in some of the ones that will be a near miss and the wave will continue. Obama’s been a complete and utter disaster thus far and I expect his downward spiral to continue and maybe even escalate. Thank goodness the GOP will have the House to check him. Dems have got to be worried sick about the next two years.

This is wrong. I live in the district and am part of Doug Cloud’s campaign team in Kitsap County. This article has several errors besides having Doug ahead of Norm Dicks, GOD, I wish it so.

Doug is a Tacoma attorney who briefly worked as a assistant prosecuting attorney in Kitsap years ago after he graduated from UW Law School.

The State and entire Country would benefit from Doug beating the drunkard Dicks, but Norn Dicks has control of the 6th district similarly the way Robert Byrd controlled West Virginia with his PORK.

The military is the chief employer in Kitsap and Norm Dicks is seen by them as their personal savior. They are wrong about Dicks, but perception is part of politics.

I would have more faith in this poll had it been conducted by Rassmussen or even Elway. I voted for Doug, I hope this poll helps convince my neighbors to vote the same way, but I ain’t holdin’ my breath.

Perhaps the 4th time is the charm...Doug is Norm Dicks perennial opponent. Doug has run against Norm four times now and this is the first campaign Doug has actually campaigned rather than using the race as a business promotional tool.

That is probably why he has his town hall meetings in Bremerton, and ignores Gig Harbor.
It is all about the pork.

You’re exactly right. If you’re not home to PSNS-Boeing-McCord area then you don’t exist in Dicks world. I question his effectiveness at delivering pork to those entities even, look at the trouble Boeing has had with its tanker contract. Dicks is a career politician that needs to be retired.
