His firing has backfired, handing Fox a victory and making Williams a symbol of liberal intoleranceon the very day NPR announced a grant from George Soros that it never should have accepted.
After watching Bill OReilly lead an hour of NPR-bashing on Fox News Thursday night, its tempting to say that the rights reaction to the Juan Williams firing is just a tad overblown.
But its not. This was a blunder of enormous proportions. Even many liberalsDonna Brazile, Joan Walsh, Whoopi Goldbergare castigating National Public Radio for throwing Williams overboard.
NPR Chief Executive Vivian Schillerdubbed a pinhead by OReillymade matters worse by suggesting that Williams needs psychiatric attention. She later apologized....
And in a triumph of awful timing, yesterday was the day that NPR announced a new grant$1.8 million from liberal philanthropist George Soros to hire 100 new reporters. No news organization should accept that kind of check from a committed ideologue of any stripe.

Given facts like these, I have to think that Juan has a decent lawsuit against the NPR jerkasses.
When it comes to an enemy, self-inflicted wounds are the best kind.
Every day, they show us who they are.
Amazing!
She should have been canned on the spot and not allowed to apologize. I guess she exists at NPR under a totally different set of "standards and practices". Above the law as it were.
I’m enjoying it.
Yes, and may I suggest that we not interrupt them while they're busy destroying themselves?
One of the nicer angles to this debacle, is that it plays right into the hands of the Tea Party and every Republican running for office right now.
Who would have thought that the left would launch an October Surprise against themselves? LOL! Gotta love it.
While I am no fan of Williams I find this whole episode a little strange.
NPR = Racists
hey.... if they can play it... so can we.
NO SHE DIDN'T. An apology is calling someone up (or better ,yet, seeing them face to face) and apologizing. She didn't do either. There was no apology to Juan

I don’t typically watch O’Reilly. But I did tonight. Willams was so flustered, it was hard to watch.
I most often disagree with Juan Williams..but he doesn’t seem to be irrational.
If ONE penny of my tax dollar continues to fund NPR/PBS I may have a fit.
(I’m sure they will care.)
ME too.....they’ve done this with perfect timing...AT the HEIGHT of Election season and in the midst of their own Fundraising......!!!!/s
And taking 1.8 million from Soros, that just is too flippin rich.

NPR’s Vivian “The Schill” Schiller just locked up the Ditzy Broad of the Year Award for herself. Great job there Viv!
It does for the time being. Just be pissed off about it but don't have a fit.
I would like to hear the Ed Shultz defense team spin. It should be a Doozie.
Soros has the big bucks, Juan ought to aim REAL high.
That’s why liberalism really is a mental disorder- the crazy woman implied that Williams needs the mental help, when she’s the one who can’t face reality, namely, about the fact that it was Muslims who murdered. Not Baptists, not the Amish, not Buddhists, not even those “scary” Christian fundamentalists-nobody but Muslims, doing just what their book tells them to do.
