Fox News moved swiftly to turn the controversy over Juan Williamss firing to its advantage, offering him an expanded role and a new three-year contract Thursday morning in a deal that amounts to nearly $2 million, Matea Gold reports.
Roger Ailes took a jab at NPR in the process.
"Juan has been a staunch defender of liberal viewpoints since his tenure began at Fox News in 1997, he said in a statement. Hes an honest man whose freedom of speech is protected by Fox News on a daily basis.
In his new role, Williams will appear more frequently on the network and have a regular column on FoxNews.com.

That will stuff a wet, oily dishrag in the Left’s pie hole.
Freedom is strengthened by allowing differing points of view.
I will probably disagree with Juan on most everything, but I’ll fight for his right to say it and think it.
NPR will only defend the right of people to say what’s politically correct. They have a euphemism for it. “Speaking truth to power.” What a ruse.
Everytime I hear that, I want to cringe, because if you REALLY speak Truth to power, as Juan did, you get thrown overboard.
This was well done by Fox.
This will just infuriate the mohammedans.
Capitalism works.
Obama can talk about 1 gov’t job he cut.
> This will just infuriate the mohammedans.
A double-benefit!
I LOVE IT!
I always thought that Britt Hume had a huge impact on Juan. Maybe that trend can continue.
foxnewsblow
so does juanwilliams
The Saudi owners of Fox News will be infuriated all the way to the bank.
No diversity at MSNBC. Must see video:
But is this guy a big leftist?
Fox News = Mainstream
NPR = Marginalized
It’s fun watching this unfold. 20 years ago, when Rush was the only sane voice; we never could envision this.
Uncle Juantom.
I bet Juan is crying all the way to the bank. ;)
I hope this doesn’t mean he’ll have to go overboard on the liberal point of view now? Go after the communists and marxists Juan.
"You know Juan is on the left side of the political spectrum, but he often appears on FOX. My guess is that FOX will now use him more. The thing is that FOX is not afraid of people who do not think alike, and NPR is. I personally want to hear all sides of an issue, not just my own narrow view."
NPR fires someone for telling the truth and Fox hires that person!
I'm proud to be a viewer... and yeah, we all know Juan's a liberal - but he's a good man... and YOU, FOXNews, did the right thing. Again, proud to be a viewer - proud to be part of the FOX family... proud to stand with you guys...
Juan is still just another liberal in a media sea that foul with liberal rot. I guess FOX can tout the fair and balanced thing. I hope they don’t make a habit of rewarding fired liberals with cozy jobs.
