Fox News moved swiftly to turn the controversy over Juan Williamss firing to its advantage, offering him an expanded role and a new three-year contract Thursday morning in a deal that amounts to nearly $2 million, Matea Gold reports.
Roger Ailes took a jab at NPR in the process.
"Juan has been a staunch defender of liberal viewpoints since his tenure began at Fox News in 1997, he said in a statement. Hes an honest man whose freedom of speech is protected by Fox News on a daily basis.
In his new role, Williams will appear more frequently on the network and have a regular column on FoxNews.com.

While liberals scream about being the tolerant ones, conservatives quietly do the right thing. Great comment - you might have a tagline in there...

As for NPR, they should be defunded tomorrow ... I agree with everything you said, JLAGrayFox - but the above was my favorite! Thanks for the comment.

Juan's opinions make me groan a lot too, especially when he talks about racism in the Tea Party or his belief in Obamacare. Other than that, I think he's one of the most honest liberal commentators out there. He'll criticize his own side when they deserve it, and he stays within the bounds of civility. He enjoys the give-and-take of a good debate, keeps it on an intellectual level, and he doesn't blindly drink the Kool-Aid that the Democraps are selling. He wasn't a cheerleader for Obama back in '08, that's for sure.
I have hopes for Juan that now that he's the proverbial liberal who's been mugged, by people of his own side, no less. Maybe the scales will fall from his eyes and he'll be more amenable to the conservative viewpoint. Maybe he'll even adopt more of it himself, now that he's experienced the consequences of running afoul of the left. Now he knows who his friends are and who they aren't. I'm not holding my breath for it, but it could happen.

Maybe FoxNews is smart -- they saw a reporter with spunk and courage -- so they latched on to him.
I really, really want the new Republican dominated House of Representatives to do a Congressional investigation of NPR in the 112th Congress.
RealClearPolitics.com has announced today that they are predicting a Republican majority -- without any of the 37 toss ups or any of the Democratic leans seats.
Some claim that RealClearPolitics is biased to the left in polling -- if so, then there will be an even larger majority in the House...

Keith Olberfurhrer and Rachel Maddyke will have a lot to say about this tonight I am sure. That won't make much difference. Sound doesn't carry in a vacuum.
