Fox News moved swiftly to turn the controversy over Juan Williamss firing to its advantage, offering him an expanded role and a new three-year contract Thursday morning in a deal that amounts to nearly $2 million, Matea Gold reports.
Roger Ailes took a jab at NPR in the process.
"Juan has been a staunch defender of liberal viewpoints since his tenure began at Fox News in 1997, he said in a statement. Hes an honest man whose freedom of speech is protected by Fox News on a daily basis.
In his new role, Williams will appear more frequently on the network and have a regular column on FoxNews.com.

My impression is that Juan is a decent person. He has occasionally even shown some ability to think beyond the Marxist templates. In the end, though, he always runs home to mama.
I wonder if this treatment by his friends provides the nudge he needs to rethink his belief system. Oh, I don’t expect him to suddeny embrace conservatism. But I would hope it causes him to at least rethink the role of government in our lives. And concurrently, an individual’s responsibility for his/her own life.
I love that it shows NPR to be what it is.
Now I can get back to calling Juan an idiot.
ditto
Congratulations, Juan!
I don’t often agree with your opinions but I respect your right to have them, and in the country where my fellow conservatives and I live, we will make very sure that have the right to express them!!!
WAY TO GO, FOX!!!!!
It’s like a good news/bad news joke. The good news is Juan’s “cancellation” was remedied, the bad news is we’ll be seeing more of him.
Me too. Personally, his politics suck big time. I really don’t care that he was betrayed by his own ilk. That’s what they are like. I don’t think he needs to lionized or put up on some “fair and open” pedestal because he IS not! He is a liberal who got screwed by his own slip of honesty when not in rigidly controlled liberal company, that’s all.
You’re right when he sat in for BOR he was even handed, but a BOOR non the less.

Genuine fairness and balance will never go out of style-!
Liberal, yes. In the same way that JFK was a liberal back in the 60s. Like others have said here, I may not agree with him very often, but he shows that you can disagree with someone without being disagreeable. An admirable trait sorely lacking in today's world, which is probably why things are in the toilet!
Too bad you can't say the same about the harpies on "The View" or anything coming out of the pie holes that are "NPR", "Huffington Post" or "The Daily Kos". They can be disagreeable even on the 0.0001% of things we can agree upon!
Now there's some good analysis.
Yes thank you Fox for giving an unemployed liberal bent on destroying our country a job so he can support his family while stealing our money.
I knew they would jump on this. Excellent.
I knew they would. I kind of expect them to give him his own show. On after Greta, perhaps.
I hope they dont make a habit of rewarding fired liberals with cozy jobs.”
I agree. We already have way too many libs on FOX already. Maybe they can put Juan, Beckel, Shep and Heraldo all on the same show and quit cluttering up some of the others.
Good for Foxnews.
I may not agree with Juan most of the time, but at least I respect him.
(cannot say that for nearly every other liberal)
$2 million? He must be kicking himself for not getting fired earlier.
