Jerry Brown pulls ahead of Meg Whitman
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 10/20/10 | Carla Marinucci, Chronicle Political Writer

Democrat Jerry Brown has broken open the dead-heat contest for California governor, leading Republican Meg Whitman by 8 points going into the final two weeks of the campaign after massing robust backing from Latinos and eclipsing her support in the crucial Central Valley, a new Public Policy Institute of California poll shows.

In the first major nonpartisan survey since a series of statewide televised debates and revelations of Whitman's hiring and firing of an undocumented Mexican immigrant maid, Brown has 44 percent of likely voters to 36 percent for Whitman, with 16 percent undecided and other candidates drawing 4 percent, the poll showed.

That marks a significant shift in the race after months of being virtually tied. The last poll by the organization, in September, showed Whitman leading Brown 38-37 percent. The new poll of 2,002 adults, was taken Oct. 10-17, a period that included the candidates' third debate. The overall margin of error is plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

Reflecting recent events

Mark Baldassare, president and CEO of the Public Policy Institute of California, said the poll might reflect some recent controversies, public events and strategic changes in the gubernatorial campaign.

"Brown began campaigning in earnest," he said, "and there has certainly been a number of opportunities (in debates) for the voters to hear from the two candidates, to compare and contrast."

In California, where Democrats have a 2.3 million-voter advantage over Republicans, Baldassare said it appears that "the core voters that have supported Democratic candidates seem to have coalesced around Brown," including Latinos, liberals and women.

Let the bankrupt CA voters get in that booth and we’ll see where that Ouija board marker leads them! Nothing better to focus the mind than reality of one’s future staring you in the face!

"Oh we are going to see all sorts of polls in the final lap showing how strong the RATS are coming back. The die is set."

That's the usual behavior of the corrupt, dishonest Democrat Party Run Media in America. The DemonRATS will then cite the phony polls in lawsuits that try to prove that the Republicans stole some close elections from them. Of course the cases will be thrown out of court but the point (damage) will have been done -- to discredit Republican victories in the minds of the public.

But I can't wait to see the photos of emotionally wrought Democrats/Liberals crying and holding stupidly worded signs demanding that "all of the votes be counted."

Here is the crux of the poll, IMO. I predict a low Republican turnout (58% not satisfied!)
“In general, would you say you are satisfied or not satisfied with your choices of candidates
in the election for governor on November 2nd?”

Likely voters only | All Likely Voters | Party | Latinos
                    | | Dem Rep Ind |
Satisfied | 42% | 50% 38% 30% | 43%
Not satisfied | 55 | 46 58 68 | 54
Don’t know | 3 | 4 4 2 | 3

"Meg will have the same problem. I’m voting for her ... but it’s all up hill."

Did it ever occur to anyone that we are being played for suckers by both sides? I figured that one out a long time ago.

My Ass!

Not that I care for the RINO, but ABC and The Murky News said Tom Campbell would loose by 10% in 1996 as "backlash" to Gingrich and his henchmen.

He won by 20%

Carli by 4% & Whitman by 6%. You saw it here first.

I would say that 44% is where Brown will stick.

California, you are done if he wins.

Saw it off and let it float around the Horn to Argentina.

I think the Hispanics and blacks are the nexus of vote fraud in the State of California. The number of fraudulent registrations staggers the imagination.

California is a "virtual" voter world, with even DEAD illegal aliens still on the rolls, not to mention mythical families living at non-existent addresses. In the African-American areas the fraud is still refreshingly traditional, with flying squads visiting multiple precincts in church vans, but not before having a hearty breakfast and receiving street money. Of course, the absentee ballot thing is huge here, too, along with registered dead. To give them full credit where due, at least the dead and registered African-Americans tend to have once existed, and perhaps even lived in the USA for a while.

Until this is cleaned up, no real Republican can take the Federal seats or the Governor's office. On the state level, there are at least 10 legislators sitting now who are in the chamber because of blatant fraud.

This is a national disgrace.

I cant believe Americans are that stupid.

Jerry's advantage is not the American citizens voting in the election. It is the fraudulently registered illegal Mexican aliens. No one seems to face the major demographic issue of illegal immigration. That is that in a state like California, illegals and anchor baby generations are over "crirical mass" in elections.

The real purpose behind democrat polls is to cover for fraud... to make the ill-gotten results sound more plausible.

The rats know all someone can do about the fraud when they see it is complain to someone... and they own the courts, so they just say bring it on.

I’ve heard nothing about the CA legislature this election cycle. You don’t think there will be enough GOP wave to clear the Dims out of the CA legislature ? Why doesn’t the same ‘kick the bums out’ logic from the national level apply to CA — where the Dim bums have arguably done an even worse job than the Dims in Congress ?
