Ohio Democrat Threatens Pro-Life Leader With Jail

Rep. Steve Driehaus (D-Ohio) got himself into deep water when he took a principled stand to defend life earlier this year -- then buckled to his pro-abortion leadership to vote in favor of passing Obamacare.

The legislation passed by Democrats allows the use of taxpayer dollars to fund abortion on demand through government-run insurance plans.

Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of the Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List), is being threatened with possible jail time for informing voters that Driehaus voted in favor of taxpayer-funded abortion with his vote for Obamacare.

“Ironically, ours is the position that so-called ‘pro-life’ Democrats themselves held before they changed their minds. It is also the position held by the National Right to Life Committee, Americans United for Life, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Ohio Right to Life and numerous other organizations and policy experts,” Dannenfelser said.

SBA List sought to purchase four billboards across Driehaus’ Congressional district informing voters that his vote in favor of Obamacare was a vote for taxpayer funding of abortion. Driehaus filed a complaint with the Ohio Elections Commission on Tuesday, October 6th alleging the SBA List was making false accusations, citing a criminal statute in the complaint. SBA List said Driehaus’ attorney convinced Lamar Companies to not to put up the billboards in order to avoid being added to the elections commission complaint.

“Through this criminal statute, he’s even threatening me with jail time,” Dannenfelser said. “But we will not be silenced or intimidated. In fact, we’re emboldened to make certain that his constituents know the truth about his vote.”

Dannenfelser -- not one to be intimidated into silence -- upped the ante this week with a $50,000 radio ad campaign airing across Driehaus’ district. The ad highlights Driehaus’ vote for the health care bill which allows for taxpayer funding...

Obamacare proved that there is no such thing as a pro-life democrat.

the National Right to Life Committee, Americans United for Life, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops

And yet, all of these organizations forcefully promoted the Stupak-Pitts Amendment which funded abortions, and provided the Democrats they are now criticizing with the political cover they needed to vote for the socialist abomination.

In fact, they threatened and coerced the entire GOP caucus to vote "yea."

Hypocrites, one and all.

No such thing.

Dems Pull The Plug on Driehaus

Triage is a term that has its origins in World War I, among French doctors who were treating battlefield wounded. One doctor often had many wounded soldiers to treat at the same time, and they had to decide which soldiers were probably going to live whether they got immediate treatment or not, which ones could be saved if they were treated immediately, and which ones were so gravely wounded that they would likely die no matter how quickly and to what extent they were treated. Triage.

Well, the Democrats are in so much trouble this year that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), has had to make the same tough decision with respect to their vulnerable candidates. Who should be okay, who’s in trouble but can be saved, and who will lose no matter how much money or resources are spent to save them. Two days ago, they put Steve Driehaus into this third category — can’t be saved.

The DCCC had purchased $563,000 worth of TV ads for the Driehaus campaign in the Cincinnati media market. They pulled it all.

Here’s what some of the top political news sources in the nation have to say about it. NBC News political reporter Chuck Todd says: “Polling in this Cincinnati-area district this entire year had shown Driehaus behind Chabot… With the DCCC now out, it’s fair to say the national party doesn’t have a lot of confidence in its chance of Driehaus holding on. In other words, he’s being written off.”

Here’s what the Washington Post had to say: “National Democrats are beginning to cut off the money flow to some embattled incumbents, in order to shift the cash to other once-safe districts, a key sign strategists have decided their races may be lost.”

And finally, perhaps Washington’s top political pundit, Stu Rothenberg, of the Rothenberg Report says: “It is difficult to read the cancelations as anything other than the Committee’s decision to write off the Driehaus race.”

So there you have it. The election’s over, right? We’ve got it in the bag. Uh, NO. We’ve got three more weeks of hard work to do. No one rests. No getting complacent. Confidence, yes. Overconfidence, no.

Let’s face it, it all comes down to which candidate gets the most votes BY Election Day, Tuesday, November 2nd.
