It's that time of year when employers deliver bad news about next year's benefits.
Chances are you'll learn that your 2011 health insurance tab will be sharply higher, as companies continue to shift the burden of rising costs onto their workers.
Employees' share of premiums for a family plan is up an average 14%, to $3,997, vs. just a 3% rise in the total bill, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.
And it's not just premiums that are spiraling higher. You're also likely to be hit with higher deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums as well as bigger bills for doctor's visits and drugs.
"Increasingly, employees have to be thoughtful about not just the cost of the plan, but the cost of the services they use," says Michael Thompson, a principal with Pricewaterhouse-Coopers' human resources practice.

The whole PURPOSE of the "Affordable Care Act" was to destroy what exists. So far, everything is proceeding according to plan.

No it will NOT change the shift of medical costs to you but it does remove the “anticipated” costs such as paying for colonoscopies, and children up to 26 and that kind of crap.
But this plan worked in Zimbabwe. Why is failing here? We still have white people with money, and a few of them still have jobs.
Where this is impacting the heaviest is in the small businesswoman component of the Democrat Party. I know a couple of them personally. When times were good and the money was easy, their conversations sounded just like the average ones on DU. Mostly based on social issues, with a little compassionate socialism thrown in.
Now, not so much. They’ve gotten two years education. Their livelihoods are under assault, and the margins are very tentative. They don’t talk like Rush yet, but it’s coming.

Mine already went up last year. More than 14%.
We were supposed to have our yearly Benefits meeting last week but it was put on hold until next month. Think they are waiting to give us the bad news until after the election?
