Obama Clings Again! Blames "Scared" Voters.
Newsweek ^ | October 17, 2010 | Mickey Kaus

Uh-oh. President Obama seems to have learned nothing from the disaster of the "cling-to-guns-and-God" talk that almost derailed his campaign in 2008. He's back at it—blaming voters for failing to "think clearly" because they're "scared" about the economy:

WEST NEWTON, Mass. - President Barack Obama said Americans' "fear and frustration" is to blame for an intense midterm election cycle that threatens to derail the Democratic agenda.

"Part of the reason that our politics seems so tough right now and facts and science and argument does not seem to be winning the day all the time is because we're hardwired not to always think clearly when we're scared," Obama said Saturday evening in remarks at a small Democratic fundraiser Saturday evening. "And the country's scared."

Obama told the several dozen donors that he was offering them his "view from the Oval Office." He faulted the economic downturn for Americans' inability to "think clearly" and said the burden is on Democrats "to break through the fear and the frustration people are feeling."

JustOneMinute suggests, mockingly, that this is an improvement over Obama's 2008 "cling" speech because

now Obama's critics are scared rather than racist or stupid. There's hope for us!

But of course the basic argument is exactly the same. It's vulgar economic determinism: When people are afraid for their economic livelihood they do foolish things, like clinging to their guns and God or, in this case, voting in opposition to Obama's presidency. When they feel more secure, they'll come around.

Even if there's something to this world view—and I can't shake it completely myself—it's a deeply troubling sign if it dominates your thinking three weeks before a big election. Especially this election. Insulting voters is rarely a good way to win them over. But usually the "blame the customer" approach...

When Obama gets scared, he clings to his Koran and his teleprompters.

It is an interesting comment. Especially, when one considers that the left has controlled education for at least 35 years. Looks the eduction elite got the “dumb down” part right, but didn’t do such a good job “reeducating” their charges.

The explanation is simple. Sufficient numbers of parents have and are interfering with the Education Establishment’s Marxist agenda. There is only one solution: Remove children from their biological parents as soon as possible. They then can be raised as government wards to insure their heads are right—I mean left.

"Part of the reason that our politics seems so tough right now and facts and science and argument does not seem to be winning the day all the time is because we're hardwired not to always think clearly when we're scared,"

This is what a teleprompter on crack sounds like.

Complete gibberish.

We're in terrible danger.

If the elections go the way we all pray they will, we need to begin a call for resignation. Of course, he won’t consider it. But a large growing petition movement demanding it, will certainly keep him and his on the defensive.

As a secular humanist, Obama presumably believes in evolution, but this indicates he doesn't understand the concept of "survival of the fittest." The human species and other species developed mechanisms of increasing the members' likelihood of survival in a crisis, and not thinking clearly is not going to improve one's chances of getting through danger alive.

Off topic, but I have never yet *once* met an atheist/secular humanist who accepts Darwinist survival of the fittest as applied to human beings.

They universally want to force some sort of bastardized Christian charity on the successful to support the self-destructive and doomed.

Hypocrites to the core.

Ah, forget it, just vote on November 2, 2010 to totally and entirely destroy the whole Democrat “traitor” party!!!! Remember in November!!!!

Shessh, this is pure Hitlerian/Berlin Bunker, April 1945- kamikaze last ditch-type desperation stuff.

They really are at their wits end, arent they?

Fascists HATE to lose power. It is fun to watch them suffer this way--considering what they have and had in mind for us over the years (camps/reeducation/disarmament of private arms).

Check out the new book “Radical-In-Chief” by Stanley Kurtz. Hannity just talked with Kurtz who said he spent two years digging out the truth about the Imam and the flow of the deception. It’s very very bad boys and girls! Wonder how many in DC know the truth and are hiding even more.

Hannity’s show will be repeated later tonight if you want to watch the interview.

"He and his policies have me terrified. But I’m thinking pretty clearly."

Fear can help you think clearly. The idiots who swallow the Soma( from Huxley's Brave New World before anyone asks) from Obama are drugged, feel safe and therefore are easy targets for slavery.

Hypocrites to the core.

The operative word there, is "forced"... This alone removes any notion of 'Christian' from such 'charity', not even a bastardized version. It's wealth-redistribution, and Marxist, thus secular humanist, to the core.

Still they are willing to set aside Darwin, for the political power that buying votes with their wealth redistribution gains them. So, they are, as you stated hypocrites...

Seems to me that real honest to God fear is the antidote against the MSM introduced stupor upon America on Obamas behalf.

Fear is good, it makes a person aware of whats a real threat.

No wonder Obama is pissed off, his secret little mind numbing tricks are not working any more.

Mark Levin also interviewed Stanley Kurtz about his book on Levin's radio show last night. (Stanley Kurtz is not to be confused with Howard Kurtz, the left-leaning media critic of the Washington Post.)

Another good book on Obama's background is "The Manchurian President," by Aaron Klein.
