Any time one is faced with a decision, one should consider the worst case scenario.
What’s the worst case with O’Donnell? Well, she could turn out to be hopelessly incompetent or, I suppose, a loon. In the unlikely event that happens, she’ll be on her own (a senator requires consensus to pass legislation) until the next election when she can be removed from office. In a best case, she’ll be a reliable conservative vote.
Now with Castle, what’s the worst thing that could happen? He already votes against Republicans on important bills (the Castle “best” case) and in a worst case would join the Democrats outright. As another vote for the Democrat agenda, he could do serious harm between his election and the next election. With Coons, of course, one STARTS from the Castle worst-case scenario.
Bottom line: O’Donnell is the only choice that leads to the possibility of smaller government. Anything choice other than O’Donnell at this point is vote for big government.
Last line should read, “Any choice other than ODonnell at this point is vote for big government.”
I should add that some Republicans are just as much in favor of big government as the Democrats. Many are probably hoping for an O’Donnell defeat. Anyone who opposes O’Donnell at this point is NOT a FRiend. Even if they think it’s a slim chance, she’s the ONLY chance of a conservative victory at this point.
