I got this from the OP and post #5. As I said, I’m a former New Yorker, now in Florida, depending on the thread for the current NY situation.

This is what I have now heard:

Someone who over votes, that is voting for two different candidates, is given the opportunity to correct the error. An error message will appear on the scanner screen and the voter is given the opporunity to fill out a new ballot.

But according to the WFP, someone who double votes, that is votes for the SAME candidate more than once, is NOT notified and the vote goes to the first party. No error message appears on the scanner screen.

Until this is resolved, at the very least there should be signs by the privacy booth, explaining BOTH scenarios, over vote and double vote, and telling the voter DO NOT DO IT!
