Without cap-and-trade, here's what's needed (megamoonbat alert)

There is a hole in the Democrats' plan to fight global warming. A .270-caliber hole, to be specific.
"I'll take dead aim at the cap-and-trade bill, because it's bad for West Virginia," Gov. Joe Manchin, the Democratic candidate for Senate, says in an ad put out last week. To demonstrate, he pops what appears to be a .270 cartridge in his Remington 700, then shoots a bull's-eye through a piece of paper reading "Senate of the United States" and "Cap and Trade Bill."
If you look closely, you can see that the bullet tears through the word "jobs" in the sentence "to create clean energy jobs."
This was unsporting of Manchin. The bill was dead before he shot it. If it couldn't pass with 60 Democrats in the Senate, it surely isn't going to pass in the next two years.
But Manchin's shot should ring in his fellow Democrats' ears, warning them that it is time to come up with an alternative to regulating carbon, a Plan B for climate change. I suggest they try smoke and mirrors -- literally.
Scientists are already pondering the use of smoke (sulfur dioxide injected into the stratosphere) and mirrors (installing reflectors made of metal or lunar glass a million miles from Earth) to cool the planet. It's time for policymakers to get serious about these and other "geoengineering" proposals to cool the Earth and remove excess carbon.
None of this means giving up on carbon reduction, which remains the only sure way to prevent man-made climate change. But as the failure in Congress to reach consensus slows progress toward an international agreement, the wasted time could be used to create a fallback plan.
This would prevent other nations from gaining a lead in geoengineering technologies (while perhaps providing some focus to our aimless...)

We're broke, but Milbank wants to waste money for geoengineering. If the feds have to spend money, then let them perfect thorium nukes.

I pray that a majority of West Virginians won't buy Manchin's "Brooklyn Bridge" pledge. If elected, Manchin will immediately pull a "Stupak" and vote
for Rape & Tax when the Dark Lord dangles a couple of strands of pork in his face.
Don't fall for it, West Virginians. PLEASE.

If they want to spend money, they need to cure the common cold ... and migraines.

The issue is so politicized, even an obvious know-nothing is cock-sure he’s got a plan.

Oh, so if the planet isn't "dying" fast enough to justify his little power play, then he proposes a way to kill it for sure!
"Environmentalism" has become a terribly destructive ethic.

Cunning, collectivist, criminal - yes.
Insane, not at all. They know what they are doing, and they are banking (literally) on the hope the citizenry does not know what they are doing.

The more I read about thorium nuclear plants, the more I am convinced that this is a solution to our power generating needs.

We used to have power plants which would inject sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere for free, yet the lefties shut them all down because sulfur dioxide was a 'dangerous pollutant'.
So, many years and billions of dollars later, we have power plants that emit no sulfur dioxide but plenty of good, clean carbon dioxide, and the same environmentalists want to shut them down because carbon dioxide is a 'dangerous pollutant'.

Over here there have been so many clean energy projects that have expended millions without producing results beneficial to the economy or the environment.....and this year the Dems are campaigning once again to try again.
South Point Wind Farm is in shambles, an eyesore; the Tidal Energy experiments spend big bucks for a dollar's worth of energy; Puna's Geothermal plant worked but was protested for the sulfurous fumes it produced, by the same people that demand a non oil based energy method of production; electric energy production from burning waste was denied....the same waste that fills our landfills beyond capacity; burning bio fuels at the old cane plantation mills is also kapu (taboo) since it pollutes, the same sort of emissions from those mills that once fueled the Hawaiian economy; solar energy panels system are unaffordable with high maintenance costs and unreliable.
It's a joke that goes on and on while Madame Pele laughs in their faces.
