This is a blatant attempt to buy the votes of seniors with taxpayer money.

Notice that this happens two weeks before the election, is announced on Friday afternoon to avoid the immediate attention of conservative talk shows, and benefits those democrats in congress that will "push the president's agenda forward."

This makes me sick, and I hope the seniors will see it for the bribe that it is, and not sell their vote for a measly $250.

$250 "economic recovery payment" to seniors, veterans and people with disabilities.

I don't want it...These SOBs will take it back in taxes at the end of the year...Just like he did in 2009.

I don’t know that this is a plus or a minus.

Obama is not smart to announce two weeks before an election that no cost of living increase is to be forthcoming.

A $250 one time payment although directly attributable to Obama is NOT what most of the seniors are going to think is fair. They know there has bee electrical and food inflation and they aren’t going to buy the lie that there hasn’t been.

A $250 payment is what Obama offered them last time. So this is just keeping pace with last year.

Well, $250 is better than a pack of cigs or a bottle of ripple. Of course, is your soul worth more than $250?

Social Security payments were originally supposed to be TAX FREE. Now they're not.

BTW, taxes collected on Social Security benefits are not returned to the "trust fund" even though they are all paid at the top applicable rate.

Taxing benefits and not returning the money to the "trust fund" is a double dip on the part of the General Fund.

Most likely $250 will not buy many votes.

But, TRULY, there are some that REALLY need it.

(i.e. my parents...that I cannot make up for)

They’ll probably just go out and blow this $250.00 on a tank of gas.

$250 doesn't go very far these days.

ROTFLOL... 250 bucks? Like that’s going to help them? That might cover a few prescriptions for the month.

Our seniors are not stupid.

Obama is such a joke.

Hey, you know what we did when we found out we weren’t going to get a benefit hike? We started an online business. I’m not a benefit bunny, as The-Negro-Without-An-Accent-Unless-He-Wants-One wants me to be.

My moron younger son is still waiting for the $500 check from Obama, that the college Democrat club promised him if he would vote for the Kenyan Deceiver.

There was a flyer with the $500 promise directly quoted from Obama.

Actually, this is just par for the course. As an oldster myself, I find it offensive, but the fact is if the Social Security formula doesn’t spit out a COLA for any given year, then to heck with the formula. Politicians of both parties will fall all over themselves to give money to a bloc that votes regularly.

Sanders argued that the estimated $13 billion to help seniors pay for "rising health care and prescription drug costs" is a fraction of the $70 billion wealthy Americans would be allowed to keep if Bush-era tax cuts are extended.

I hate these bassturds and their smug sense of entitlement to our money more each passing day.

Seniors should remember $4 billion to the UN Global Fund. $250 taxable to seniors with no cost of living increase for two years. Woo hoo! Thank you, Barry.

It’s more illustrative of their mindset of their “superior discretion”.

“Oh, yeah, this policy causes a problem with group X, we’ll just make a discretionary allowance or waiver for that group and everything else will be fine.”

The “Chess Piece fallacy” derives from Adam Smith’s description of the person who “seems to imagine that he can arrange the members of a great society with as much ease as the hand arranges the different pieces on a chess-board.”

More scam voter-buying before the election. Given that seniors are far more likely to vote republican, I’m surprised Hussein would even make the phony statement. After all, the death panels were created for the purpose of cleaning out as many conservatives as possible.

Dumb, dumb, dumb. They can keep their measly $250. How many millions is it going to cost to cut all those checks?

Either the cost of living went up or it didn’t. Idiots.

"and people with disabilities"

Yeah; all those getting SSDI for crack addiction, and other trumped-up ailments (shown below)

Included with the check will be a Voting Guide, indicating which boxes to put your "X" in:
