Pat Buchanan: Why No Bragging About Deportations
The Manchester Union-Leader ^ | 10/13/10 | Pat Buchanan

Posted on 10/14/2010 1:45:28 PM PDT by jamese777

Is "Big Sis" one of us? Janet Napolitano, secretary of homeland security -- Big Sis to regular readers of the Drudge Report -- held a press conference last week that might cause critics to reconsider their views.

Napolitano claims that in fiscal year 2010, ending Sept. 30, the Obama administration set a record for deportations of illegal aliens, 393,000, breaking the old record of 389,000 in 2009.

The 2010 deportations represent an increase of 81,000 over the number in George W. Bush's final full year in office.

More important, half of the deportees, 195,772, had criminal arrests. Of these, one-third had committed serious felonies such as murder, rape and major drug offenses. If these figures are precise, Napolitano's Department of Homeland Security ran the equivalent of five army divisions of criminal aliens out of the United States.

In making deportation decisions, said Napolitano, we focus on "removing those who pose public safety threats to our communities."

Not only is this a fine record compared with the Bush administration, Napolitano's priorities, criminals out first, are what immigration reformers have demanded for decades.

Remarkable story, if the numbers Buchanan cites here are true.

But let's also be fair to the Bush administration and be honest about something here: A Democratic administration has the political cover it needs to do a hell of a lot of things that no Republican president would ever get away with due to political posturing, slanted media coverage, etc. I'll cite the 1995 Federal welfare reform bill signed by Bill Clinton, the slashes in Medicare payments under ObamaCare, and the elimination of any cost-of-living increases for Social Security recipients over the last two years as several perfect examples of this.

They weeded out the ones who were working, saving money and talking up the capitalist system... and deported all of those.

Fair? The fact that the borders were left open after 9/11 and not militarized speaks volumes.

“…deportations of illegal aliens…”

Sounds more like a catch and release system to protect felonies and major drug offenders of Mexico.

To effectively solve this festering cancer: Slam the border closed, push back the ongoing invasion, enforce violations of American Sovereignty at the border using lethal force on everyone and eliminate border cross-over towns side by side.

You’re right. But those borders would have been left open regardless of who was in the White House.

Anything coming out of the Zero administration is nothing but a big fat lie.

You nailed it, on both counts:

1. What this is.

2. What we need.

Points out how Liberal RINO Globalist GW Bush was. When a Communist like Obama is deporting more Illegals than Bush...Bush is the one that looks weak on border security and national security.

Time to kick all Amnesty supporters out of the GOP

Pat Buchanan’s point is that whatever the numbers of deportations are, the Obama administration is not publicizing the figure so as not to alienate the Latino support for Democrats. Obama got 68% of the Latino vote.
People don’t like it when you deport their friends and relatives.
