(Texas:] Cancel your Mexico plans, authorities release travel warning

SAN ANTONIO -- Authorities released a travel warning again advising Texans to stay out of Mexico.

Texas Homeland Security Director Steve McCraw issued a travel warning stating nobody should head to Mexico at this point.

McCraw stressed the advisory due to the increased violence and threat from drug cartels.

The statement comes weeks after American tourist David Hartley was believed to have been gunned down while jet skiing in falcon lake.

The lead investigator in that case was beheaded.

Published reports say since 2006 more than 22,700 people have been killed due to an ongoing drug war in Mexico.

Since April 30th, the DPS has documented five incidents involving Americans on Falcon Lake.

Despite the alert, travel agencies say now is the best time to travel to resort destinations.

I wonder if we could get Mexico to issue a travel alert for Mexicans to stay out of Texas? Arizona and the other 57 states as well.

The contortions our government is going through to ignore the border problem is becoming hilarious.

Exactly. Shouldn’t it be correct to issue a warning to Mexicans here illegally, to stay out of America.

I wonder if he had permission from 0bama, Hillary, and/or Janet Napolitano before issuing this warning. Seems they are going to have to do some fast talking and back-pedaling to have it revoked and to stay in the good graces of Calderon.

The Spurs played the Clippers in an exhibition game this week in Mexico City.

The teams were forbidden to even leave the hotel. Except to go to the game and then back to the airport.

Hoo boy.

As a Texan, I would think that any other Texan who went to Mexico would not be very wise--although I understand that if you get away from the border and go into the interior of Mexico, conditions are much safer.

Personally, I won't spend another dime in Mexico. They can all rot in hell down there for all I care.

Between their dead tourism industry and our crap economy, things are going to get a lot uglier for Meh-Hee-coh. All the while our idiot government does nothing to secure our borders.

A few years ago I was researching travelling in Mexico because there is an art museum down there that I want to visit really bad. It doesn’t look like I’m going to see it as travel in Mexico is nothing short of TREACHEROUS!!! My mother in law, father in law and husband were all detained unlawfully down there...all at different times, years apart! Never again.
I’ve enclosed a link so you can see just how crazy a trip down there might be.

http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_970.html#safety

Also, I found this interesting:

Demonstrations: The Mexican Constitution prohibits political activities by foreigners; such actions may result in detention and/or deportation. Travelers should avoid political demonstrations and other activities that might be deemed political by the Mexican authorities. Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. U.S. citizens are urged to avoid areas of demonstrations, and to exercise caution if in the vicinity of any protests.

I sure wish we could deport ‘foreigners’ that are here illegally from protesting things they don’t even have a right to protest!

My brother and I were robbed at gunpoint on the beach in Zihuatanejo by the cops in 1974. The crime was observed by three guys in dark blue uniforms from the road about fifty yards away - I remember one of them was holding a Thompson submachine gun with a fifty round drum magazine. My brother has since passed away and I have never been back. It’s nothing new south of the border - criminals governed by criminals.

I suggest we move Navy Seal training from San Diego to Falcon Lake. There they can get some real “live fire” training.

Yes.. yes... they can do all the other stuff they do in San Diego, except for maybe the surf swims.

I know the Zetas would be very welcome to this idea. The Seals can go on some other “field trips” throughout the nearby region too.
