Notice how many teaching aids/books/lessons are appearing on the store shelves. Are parents teaching the real subjects at home on evenings and weekends? What about all the wasted classroom time? Row after row of educational material that shouldn’t be necessary. Or maybe these study materials are not typically purchased in order to produce results... they could just be part of the “process” of meaning well.

I can't speak for other parents. We private school and closet home school when I see a gap. I pay CLOSE attention to what is being taught. There are some things I can't do such as “jazz band”, “art” or experience the satisfaction of forensics or debate. That is best handled in a school environment.

The rest I supplement on a situation by situation basis and keep them in Johns Hopkins courses. We do what we can to make sure they KNOW something. I am very in tune to what they are doing in education. If I canhelp anyone or give them ideas on this stuff, do e-mail me and I will share what ever I can that might be helpful to you. We need alot of kids, that KNOW something.
