Who are the Charedim? Are they a group in Hasidic Judaism?
Charedim (the word is the masculine plural noun for someone who trembles, thus meaning those who tremble in the Presence of G-d--the same verse the Quakers get their name from) are simply the "Ultra-Orthodox" Jews as opposed to the Modern Orthodox. I think it also is applied more to those who are not Chassidic.
