Secretary Napolitano Misleading Public About Immigration?
Family Security Matters ^ | Oct. 13, 2010 | Jim Kouri

While scolding the people of state of Arizona for their new immigration enforcement law, President Barack Obama and his Homeland Security Secretary repeatedly demonstrate their lack of enthusiasm for protecting the U.S. borders and cracking down on illegal (criminal) immigrants, say border security advocates.

Last week, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano released the FY 2010 immigration deportation numbers claiming that "it's been another record-breaking year of record criminal alien removals." Yet, Secretary Napolitano neglected to mention that while deportation of criminal aliens has risen, the total removals are roughly the same, and the number of non-criminal aliens removed has dropped substantially.

Meanwhile, a growing number of Americans say their political leaders are trying to scam citizens with phony reform legislation which will actually reward lawbreakers and increase the number of illegals who will flood our borders to partake of the giveaways. For instance, part of one Senate bill will allow illegals to pay instate (lower) college tuition, while citizens will have to pay higher tuition if they live out-of-state.

Responding to the Napolitano's new report, Dan Stein, president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform stated, "It is nice to hear that Secretary Janet Napolitano believes that the removal of people in the country illegally – especially those who have committed violent crimes – is an important function for DHS. However, policy directives from the highest levels of DHS clearly demonstrate that the administration is refusing to enforce laws against noncriminal aliens."

Removing violent and criminal aliens from American society must obviously be DHS's highest immigration enforcement priority. However, while DHS has acted to remove criminal aliens already in custody, they have adopted policies to assure all non-criminal aliens in the country face no threat of removal.

"Secretary Napolitano is giving herself and DHS a big pat on the back for stepping up enforcement without mentioning that the department is merely completing cases initiated under the previous administration, under policies that she and President Obama have aggressively dismantled since taking office," observed Stein. Some 58,000 fewer noncriminal aliens were deported in FY 2010 over the previous year.

THE SANCTUARY CITY ICE CHIEF

The Obama Administration recently appointed a police chief -- who believes in illegal alien sanctuary city policies -- to command an immigration enforcement program that entails federal agents working with local police departments on cases involving illegal aliens.

As part of the Homeland Security Department's anti-terrorism mission, the new director for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Office of State and Local Coordination is now Harold Hurtt, an outspoken critic of immigration enforcement on the local level such as Arizona's new immigration enforcement law.

DHS data show that the current administration has dramatically curtailed all aspects of immigration enforcement against illegal aliens who have not committed violent crimes in this country. In the critical area of worksite enforcement, administrative arrests have fallen by 77 percent, criminal arrests are down 60 percent, indictments are down 64 percent, and convictions have fallen by 68 percent since 2008.

"Once the pipeline opened under the Bush administration has been emptied, removal of illegal aliens who are not violent criminals will be reduced to a trickle," Stein said. "Resources appropriated by Congress intended to carry out worksite and other enforcement in the interior of the country are being used for meaningless paperwork audits, rather than serious enforcement against employers and the removal of illegal aliens from jobs that are desperately needed by American workers.

"It appears that the release of the FY 2010 data, and Secretary Napolitano's media tour, have more to do with addressing what the administration perceives as a political weakness heading into the midterm elections, than a sincere effort to deter and combat illegal immigration," said Stein. "The goal is to convince the American people that immigration enforcement is being dealt with so that the administration can move on to its real policy objective: massive amnesty for every illegal alien who is not a violent felon.

"Getting criminal aliens out of the country is important. But the American people also believe that it is important to enforce laws against other illegal aliens who are filling millions of needed jobs and consuming billions in public resources. The administration is defiantly neglecting those responsibilities, while misleading the public by taking credit for the results of policies they are now dismantling," Stein concluded.

ICE has been doing a real propaganda job trying to convince us they are deporting convicted ‘criminal aliens’.

Problem is, the guy who beheaded a man in Arizona this week had only been here a few weeks, obviously no convictions, but he was a monster just the same. So many lives could be saved if we followed the law. Deportation is the prescribed lawful remedy for illegal entry.

Recent news about more ‘non criminal/safe from deportation’ aliens.

Police say Man [Illegal Alien]Molested Sleeping Girl After Breaking into Dallas Apartment

The 13-year-old’s father rushed to her aid and found Napoleon Romero Lopez hiding in a closet in the apartment, the documents said. A violent struggle ensued between the girl’s father and Lopez, who at one point bit the father’s left thumb.

“I’m in a gang, and I’m going to kill you if you call the police,” Lopez said, according to police.

Lopez is being held at the Dallas County Jail on multiple charges, including indecency with a child, burglary and criminal mischief. He is from El Salvador and is suspected of being in the country illegally, according to police and jail records.

Our sense is he was randomly trying doors and found one that was opened and went in and committed this offense,” Williams said.

Lopez is believed to have entered apartment in the 13300 block of Emily Road, near LBJ Freeway and North Central Expressway, about 8:05 a.m. The girl woke up during the attack and alerted her father, who had been on the patio, documents said.

After finding Lopez in the closet, the father grabbed him and escorted him down a flight of stairs, according to police documents. During the struggle, Lopez pulled a large clump of hair from the girl’s father’s head.

“There was definitely a struggle, as you might anticipate, but I think [the father] showed commendable restraint,” Williams said.

Someone in the home called 911 and officers arrived and arrested Lopez. Once he was handcuffed and in the back of a squad car, he “became irate, violent and belligerent,” documents said.

Lopez “slammed his head multiple times on the cage and vehicle windows,” injuring himself, documents said. He “then bit the left rear door panel several times,” causing about $100 worth of damage to the police cruiser.

Officers took him to jail, where he was being held on $202,500 bail Tuesday night, according to jail records.

Lopez, who lives near the apartment complex, has no known criminal record in Dallas County,[snip]

Illegal alien arrested for child rape in Connecticut

On Wednesday, police in West Haven attempted to pull over a man for talking on his cell phone and ended up taking a dangerous criminal alien off the street. The man who tried to escape by jumping from his moving car, turned out to be an illegal alien with an outstanding warrant for the rape of a child.

Alonso M. Geminiano, 38, who has been living in Bridgeport, was charged with first-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a minor, reckless endangerment as well as other charges.

Aware of the pending charges against him, the Mexican national initially gave police a false name.

“Why the question mark in the title?”

You’d have to ask the author, Jim Kouri. I suppose it’s because he goes on to give the answer.
