A warning against Islamophobia
A threat to burn the Koran by a fringe American religious denomination, controversy over a proposed mosque near the scene of the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York and assaults on Islamic symbols in European countries have been a major talking point for Muslim nations.
Normally strong allies of the West have spoken out at the UN against the growing religious tensions. Many were embarrassed by comments by Irans President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad linking the US government to 9/11, diplomats said.
But Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, emir of Qatar, who has launched Western-backed diplomatic initiatives to settle wars ranging from Sudan to the Israel-Palestinian conflict, condemned attempts to link Islam with terrorism. He partly blamed the US war on terror declared after September 11.
We disagree with the attribution of this so-called terrorism to the Islamic religion because this -- in addition to being incorrect -- is a historical injustice that is refuted by evidence from recent history.
He said gratuitous violent actions in the United States, Europe and Asia in the late 20th century were never labelled as being American, European or Asian terrorism.
This violence was attributed to its underlying political, economic, social and even ideological causes, without attributing it to a particular religion, country or idea.
Egypts Foreign Minister Ahmad Abul-Gheit condemned regrettable and appalling incidents that have increasingly touched Muslims and Islam, repeatedly and sometimes systematically in certain cases.
He added: We find the West, in general, being drawn into a clash with the Muslim world. This clash will serve no one except extremists and those who hold perverted ideas on both sides. It will not be in the interest of security and stability in the world.
We call upon all countries and especially governments, to assume their responsibility to confront the specter of a dreadful religious and civilization clash, Abul-Gheit said.
King Abdallah II of Jordan said it is essential to resist forces of division that spread misunderstanding. He called for an annual World Interfaith Harmony Week to promote tolerance.
Malaysias Prime Minister Najib Razak told the UN assembly that the worlds 1.5 billion Muslims were offended by attempts to demonize Islam. He added: It intensifies the divide between the broad Muslim world and the West.
Razak said the battle was one between moderates and extremists in all religions. We must, and I repeat, we must urgently reclaim the center and the moral high ground that has been usurped from us.
Spain and Turkey set up an Alliance of Civilizations in 2005 which the United Nations now sponsors and has built up into a 122-member organization to bridge religious and cultural chasms.
Highlighting attacks on Muslim tombs in France and other acts in Europe, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, secretary general of the 58-member Organization of the Islamic Conference, compared the phenomenon to the anti-Semitic movement of the 1930s.
Christmas is never mentioned.
As long as we are afraid of a 6th century ideology.
Said the Sand Savage: “It will not be in the interest of security and stability in the world.
Said Winston Churchill: “How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property - either as a child, a wife, or a concubine - must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.”
Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen; all know how to die; but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science - the science against which it had vainly struggled - the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome.
Who should you believe?
ISLAM DELENDA EST - because Islam is its own death warrant.
Sorry, 1400 years of historical facts and evidence is proof enough that the muzzies are following the barbaric example of mohammad and they're following his murder cult manual to the letter..
I hate Islam - there, now come get me and charge me with a hate crime.
Look at the news papers........ they think twice about publishing something that might “offend” certain people, but they will attack, name call and smear someone like this all day long, because after all they are open minded critically thinking advocates of liberty and the watchdogs of democracy. -My @ss.
One question that should be asked. How many Imams advocating the murder of people, justifying terrorism are being brought to court for “hate speech” in the Netherlands?
Cowards- Why would someone like Geert even want to stay in a place like that? Pop smoke. Like William Wallace, his own people will throw him under the bus for their own short sighted gain and appeasement even though EVERYONE knows the truth. Spare us the melodrama, just sacrifice the guy in some kangaroo court. He should leave before he gets hurt by someone from the religion of peace i.e. Van Gogh, Pim Fortyn...............
I agree. It's time to take a stand for the country.
Now that the globull warming season is over I plan to burn a Koran a week in the shop wood stove.
Could you put some doo-doo on that picture to make it acurate?
Unless you soak them for a long time, they are hard to flush, too.
‘Specially the hard cover ones. Even a toilet won’t accept a koran.
They go together. Having to treat one aggressive group dicily, with kid gloves, when you hold yourself up as a "fearless writer of the truth" does rankle, at least for some. The rankle tends to produce a desire to take it out on someone who lacks that clout.
I don't want to push this analogy too far, but think of a middle manager who's obsequious to his own boss in a private meeting and then returns from that meeting and begins yelling at his/her own subordinates.
Well, shit.... er sheikh Al Thani simply is out of luck.
Except to retarded muslims, the link between islam and terrorism is obvious, constant and incontrovertible.
This is rich. Has the OIC apologized yet for the synagogue-burning bender their coreligionists went on a few years ago in France?
How about young Moo's menacing Frenchwomen on the streets of Marseilles and demanding they "cover up" to please the local self-appointed emirs?
Waiting ....
I am with you!
WHY DO THE NATIONS HATE ISRAEL?
This is the front line of the war between God and Satan.
People who don't believe that, or cannot accept it, will never see the truth.
