Cook Political Report moves AZ 8 to “Toss Up” (Jesse Kelly)

Tucson, AZ The Cook Political Report has joined the Rothenberg Report in rating AZ 8 as a “Toss Up.” These ratings changes clearly demonstrate that incumbent Gabrielle Giffords is in serious trouble.

This recent shift confirms the significant momentum in favor of the Kelly campaign. Cook has moved AZ 8 from “Likely Democratic”, when Kelly first announced in 2009, to the current “Toss Up” rating.

“The voters are responding to our message of economic growth and new jobs for Southern Arizona and they are rejecting the job-killing Giffords agenda of higher taxes and more government regulations,” stated Kelly in reaction to the news.

The ratings change comes after Kelly demonstrated solid fundraising in Q3. Arizona’s District 8 contains medium to small media markets and Kelly’s campaign has been successful in raising the funds necessary to reach voters in these regions.
