Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has pointedly refused to endorse fellow Republican Meg Whitman in the race to succeed him and has stayed largely quiet on most of the major ballot measures.
But he is campaigning across the state with remarkable passion to defeat Proposition 23, a measure that would suspend California's landmark global warming bill, one of the signature achievements of his administration.
"You have to be aware that whatever you do can be undone by outside forces," Schwarzenegger said in an interview with the Mercury News, referring to the Texas oil companies that are the primary financial backers of Proposition 23. "It's a great battle between good and evil -- it's like a movie. You have the villain dressed in dark black, and the good guys in white and green."

Arnold is going to single handedly destroy the Republican party in California — and California along with.
“It’s a great battle between good and evil — it’s like a movie. You have the villain dressed in dark black, and the good guys in white and green.”
is he trying to explain this to a group of 1st graders or Sierra Club members?
I so deeply regret my vote for the recall.
I so deeply regret paying to watch any of the moron’s movies, let alone the recall.
I hope Schwarzenkennedy campaigns hard against Proposition 23. Here in California Schwarzenkennedy is despised by the left and the right. Most Californians would love to poke him in the eye on his way out the door. A very conservative California republican (maybe it was Tom McClintock) describes Jerry Brown as the second worst governor in California history. The current governor is the worst.
California Libs have accelerated the State down a hill towards a cliff. But that's not good enough for them - now they built a brick wall at the cliff edge called "California's global warming bill" and are speeding up as much as possible.
See, their theory is that if the State hits the brick wall fast enough, the resulting explosion and flames and burning chunks of what used to be civilization will float it's ashes gently over the cliff, carried by the breeze into a new, beautiful tommorrow, rather than plummeting over the cliff and crashing below.
It will also leave no fingerprints in the massive wreckage... but I'm sure that's just a coincidence.
Same intellectual level.............
Gawd. Hand me a barf bag.
I don't. I'm glad Gray Davis got canned, and it was good to send a message to the politicians in this State that they can get 'fired'. Too bad we don't have more Recalls.
I voted for McClintock. He was the only competent person amongst the candidates - but unfortunately most folks went for the jester, rather than someone who could help push policies to help the State (albeit, to be fair - Mr. McClintock probably also would have been thwarted by the leftist legislature and government unions ... but at least he would have tried).
Governr Ahnold provided some good laughs, but at the end of the day he was yet another Kennedy in Government office.
Don’t blame me. I voted for McClintock.
Arnold endorsed Charlie Christ today, also.
Anybody who want to save the state and their job had better vote for 23. It doesn’t even go far enough. We need to end this experiment that is wasting tax dollars to make the state more non-competitive.
My ballot is sitting here ready to mail.
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger travels to Asia via private jet
By David Castillo
September 9, 2010
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will fly via private jet to Asia with 30 state employees to help raise revenue for California.
The trip, which is funded by an internet Chinese tycoon, will take Schwarzenegger and his entourage to Japan and South Korea, where he says he will visit the US troops.
Schwarzeneggers team will also be sitting down with foreign officials to talk about trade.
However, critics and economists are already questioning the effectiveness of the Governors trip. With his low approval ratings, he needs to bring home something good from this trip.
