A mushrooming political battle over ObamaCare involving the White House, two incumbent Pennsylvania congressmen, three Catholic hospitals and a nun has just exploded in, of all places, Scranton, Pennsylvania. Charges from the Scranton medical community of intimidation by the Obama White House and its allies are filling the air.
All of this just as Vice President Joe Biden arrives in Scranton today to raise money for one of the participants.
There are two issues at the core of the controversy.
1. ObamaCare and the sale of three Scranton-area Catholic hospitals.
2. The re-election prospects of the two House members, Democrats Paul Kanjorski and Chris Carney, both of whom cast key votes to pass ObamaCare.
Here's the list of players -- major and minor -- so far.
• The President of the United States.
• The Vice President of the United States.
• Three Scranton-area Catholic hospitals suddenly for sale.
• The CEO of the three Scranton-area Catholic hospitals for sale.
• ObamaCare, otherwise known as "health care reform" or the "Affordable Care Act."
• A Catholic nun.
• Michigan Congressman Bart Stupak.
• A pen.
• Victoria Reggie Kennedy, widow of the late Senator Ted Kennedy.
• Time magazine.
• The Scranton Times
• The two Scranton-area House members Kanjorski and Carney, both losing in the polls.
• U.S. Senator Bob Casey, Jr., a native and resident of Scranton.
• Congressman Joe Sestak, the Democrats' nominee for the Pennsylvania U.S. Senate seat.

They are loosing money because ObamaCare is cutting reimbursement from Medicare.
These 3 Catholic Hospitals are up for SALE!!..... Doctors are up in Arms!!!
This is just the beginning of what is going to happen to Hospitals all over the Country!!

“What’s happening to Mercy Hospitals is just the beginning. It will happen
everywhere because reimbursements will be reduced” under ObamaCare.
Particularly, he adds, in areas where you have a high elderly population.
And why has she not been? What is wrong with the hierarchy of the Church that they tolerate this witch who defies the bishops, acts contrary to what is stated Catholic moral teaching, and who cater to this most pagan of Presidents?
My problem is poor manner that this story was written.
Readers should not have to wait until the fourth page of a four page story to find out what the title is all about.
Incredible. Can we put Sister Carol on the stand and find out what she knew and when she knew it? Who called her and what did they say for her to speak out on this issue? Is this a bad mix of religion and politics? Where are the “Separation” hypochondriacs on this grand intermingling of Catholic and government blood. (Not a word on that.)
I doubt this will even get covered and it should because this unread law that they rushed through in the dark of night is causing huge damage to our economy, and our health. Their desperation requires them to intimidate and extort any potential complainant into abject silence. Frightening political control, Cold War Soviet tactics.
Vote them out while you still can.
How far astray have gone the Sisters of Mercy! So sad. Sr. Carol has made a pact with the devil.

Oh, I understand what you’re saying. I skipped the part where the writer discusses the players. I agree with you.
Sorry I used the B word. I have respect for the Catholic Church and Catholics in general, but someone like this nun is playing pure politics and doesn’t give a darn about the little ones. We won’t have any kind of protection from the Lord as long as we are killing babies. All the social program in the world won’t help anyone was long as our spirits are black from the death of innocents.
My Mother worked for the Sisters of Mercy all of her Nursing Career. She LOVED them.
I repect them. I watched one night as Mother Superior walked up to three Interns and a Resident and FIRED them on the spot for trying to sneak an ABORTION through the Hospital.
Go Sisters. You haven’t let me down. The People of Scranton are losing people that REALLY care about women children and all patients.
