Confirming indications of a building Republican "wave" this fall, polls now show Democrat Rep. Raul Grijalva in a dead-heat with his little-known challenger in Arizona's 7th District. Politico reports that the Congressional Hispanic Caucus is now directing campaign cash to help Grijalva against insurgent GOP candidate Ruth McClung. A big part of Grijalva's problem is that earlier this year, the incumbent Democrat joined those calling for a boycott of Arizona after the state passed a tough law aimed at curbing illegal immigration. Grijalva may have expected that stance would endear him with voters in the 7th District -- where about half of voters are Hispanic -- but it appears to have backfired disastrously. Polls show the Arizona law is popular, while Grijalva's support for a boycott was seen as harmful to the economy of a district suffering with high unemployment. Fifty percent of 7th District voters say they're ready to dump Grijalva, while McClung -- an attractive young physicist who works for a rocket engineering firm -- has begun capturing national attention. Late Sunday night, I spoke to a Republican pollster in Arizona who had conducted a 7th District poll early last week and couldn't believe the result: McClung actually leading by 2 percentage points. So he polled the district again and got similar results. Now those surprising findings have been confirmed by the Magellan Strategies poll that struck alarm among Democrats. Independents in the district are breaking strongly toward the Republican, a Tea Party favorite who is also supported by about a fifth of voters who identify as Democrats. Polls indicating a surge for McClung have had an important effect: Arizona's two Republican senators, John McCain and John Kyl, have reportedly started directing campaign donations and other resources toward the 7th District campaign. . . .

It'd be great if we could knock off the America-hating Grijalva.
Grijalva is also a big fan of the reconquista movement - the group that believes much of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California rightly belong to Mexico - i.e. we “stole” it from them.
Hey Grijalva, you are going to have a lot of time to boycott Arizona soon. All the time in the world.
I don't recall Ed Pastor (the former Rat occupant of the district) ever being seriously challenged even back in '94, but that slimy cockroach Raul Grijalva needs to be stomped - go Ruth!
I’m sure the Democrat has a large illegal voter base that will be hard to beat.
I understand illegal 'Hispanics' have been fleeing Arizomexico in droves, so I am sure Grijalva has been losing 2-3 votes for each one that has fled.
For once, I would like to see Democratic Party/Mexican fascist treason have some consequences.
The open borders Democrats need to hunted down one by one and chucked out.
I just donated!
C’mon folks, even $20 or $50 for Ruth McClung will go a very long way in the low-key media market in this district.
Let’s surprise the hell out of the Dems. Give generously.
Well, Congress ain’t exactly rocket science, but I sure do hope she wins.
I’ll bet this La Raza nitwit is sweating salsa. I’d pay to see them debate.
“Im sure the Democrat has a large illegal voter base that will be hard to beat.”
Perhaps many of those illegal Dem voters are so terrorized by the AZ law that they’ve moved to greener pastures, leaving Grijalva out on the limb he so cleverly sawed off by encouraging a boycott of his own state.
“Hey Grijalva, you are going to have a lot of time to boycott Arizona soon. All the time in the world.”
Excellent thought to start off the week with.
Just donated...........
I would pay too, but don’t hold your breath. Grijalva is my congressman, and we never see him around here. Never. The truth is he represents Mexican interests here and couldn’t care less what we think. He rarely grants interviews to english newspapers, and I’ve only seen one TV interview in 8 years, granted to the local public TV station. I honestly think what hurt him was his call for a boycott of Arizona. Even his ardent Hispanic supporters began to realize that was going to hurt them first, as many of them work in service industries such as hotels. I had no idea McClung was so close in the polls, I think I’m going to volunteer some time to help her campaign.
“Ill bet this La Raza nitwit is sweating salsa.”
I bet so, too. The thought that he might soon be picking lettuce rather than picking our pockets must be scaring Grijalva to death.
Thanks! On to November!
How many seats to the pubbies need to seat 300 in the House? Is it 122, or is my math a bit off? Sarah Palin says ‘Take back the 20’...how about ‘We Seat the 300’? Rat heads would explode like melons...
