They very from well to well, about half are still flowing or on plunger lifts which work off the gas generated from the well. The other half are run with pumpjacks and either gas engines or electric motors. The latter is the most expensive which run about 6 to 8 dollars per barrel depending on depth load and the amount of water that needs to be removed. But we’re lucky in the NG produced more than covers those costs. Hauling waste water and having to service them are the major costs.
Can't do facts.
Time will tell; let’s hope this is more credible than the whole ‘cold fusion’ thing.
Thanks. Long way to go for the University then? Do they have to get to $8 a barrel you think before it’s profitable?

The article gets even more confusing towards the end when it talks about CO2. Are they talking about making fuel using CO2 as a base product? As it is typically an end of the line emission in current combustion engines it will require more energy input into the process to create a fuel than the fuel will provide. The article failed to explain about any ‘downhill’ energy releasing reaction.
Analogously the electrolysis process creates a fuel of hydrogen after energy input. This hydrogen will recombine with the oxygen it was separated from and release energy in the process. Water is at it’s lowest (for practical purposes) energy state. Water does not readily disassociate into H and O and release energy in the process.
Yeah, and we're no longer going to protect the Kingdom from the other bad players they've been supporting in the ME, either.....man, to be a fly on the wall in the House of Saud if that ever happens......
2000 pounds of coal converted to 500 pounds of oil I wonder in what form the other 1500 pounds are left?
Around the turn of the 20th century it was called "city gas"...
Early voting starts Wednesday in Tennessee. I can hardly contain myself.....
I have seen that figure before - but it still blows me away.
1.) Use this converted to Diesel for the Military, Trains and Airliners and Biz Jets, these vehicles cannot be converted to natural gas easily.
2.) Convert all Trucks and Off road equipment to natural gas for to keep the cost of producing these good and services low as it is a low cost domestic fuel.
3.) Nuke Plants, 100 of them for starters 2 / State just a benchmark, include R & D for Thorium and "Pebble Bed" reactors.
4.) All these would take the pressure off our refineries, as we still use gasoline as the primary fuel before we go Natural Gas for cars, long term.
My uninformed guess is with these changes within 10 years we would be well on our way to telling the Saudi's to kiss our butts.
Human respiration releases a lot of CO2 as well - I guess we all should stop breathing...
I am so sick of the enviro-nazi freaks taking a crap on every single positive development in providing the fuel needed for us to have a prosperous economy and nation.
I have an idea - if the enviro-global warming-climate change freaks and frauds were really serous about their "carbon footprint", then they would all voluntarily commit suicide. Since they would rather expel lots more hot hair (that contains CO2), then they are hypocrites. Period.
If this is true, the environazis will be staying up late trying to come up with ways to drive the costs up and shut it down....And they can count on funding from the Saudis and the rest of OPEC.....
Well if this works as promised I don't think we need High Speed Rail to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
It’s telling that this exciting innovation in energy production originated at UT in Arlington, a suburb of Dallas. The UT Austin scientists are too busy defending their rabid belief in climate change to come up with anything useful to the USA in dealing with future energy needs. Ironically, this break-through will also provide the clean energy the Austin crowd is always yammering about.
