Trust me, I'm southern born and raised, and there's something special about the south that the northern states don't have. This just happens to be one of the sore spots for my heritage, in my honest opinion.

Agree. Every word. Keep up the fight son!

at least Lee and Davis and the rest actually DID something about it. They lost, but at least they took a shot at it.

You're a one trick pony, son, and it's a dull trick.

BTW, what do you actually do besides post crap on the internet?

You're a gutless internet toughguy and your game is clearly defined within those bounds.

BTW, what do you actually do besides post crap on the internet?

I actually DO things like play with the kids, go to my job, PRODUCTIVE stuff.

What do you do besides post crap about leaving the US on an internet forum that everyone KNOWS you won't follow through with?

Yes, but what kind of America? The America of the Southern states? Or even the Mid-Atlantic? or New England? I’m drawing on Teddy Roosevelt here in his warning of the danger of becoming a nation of ‘’squabbling minorities’’. I’m also drawing on him when I spoke of one flag, as he did. Has it really been that horrible to have lived and prospered as we have for one hundred and fifty years as The United States of America? Do you want to replace the Stars and Stripes then? Should we take Old Glory out of Arlington Cemetery? How about The United States Marine Corps Monument, the raising of The Stars and Stripes on Iwo Jima (My late father-in-laws was wounded there.) I’m an American . I understand history and I respect heritage on both sides. But I’m not a “Northerner ‘’ and at the same time I don’t look down on’’ Southerners ‘’ , I just look at all of us as Americans. 1861-65 is consigned to the past and we are who were are today because of it’s outcome . At a time when we’re facing far more serious issues, such as just surviving the next two years I feel this isn’t the time to relive’’ The Civil War/War of Northern Aggression’’. We don’t need to have this argument right now.

Secession? Never. To what purpose secession? In the midst of one of the largest areas of land mass and population density on the North American Continent in a society of nearly unfathomable diversity of freedom, materialism, safety, comfort and afforded protection by representitive democracy, plurality of thought and speech and association and protected by the largest and most lethal military history has ever seen and suddenly allow it to start dis- integrating into a Balkanized, fractured mess?

Your cowardly steak is unbroken.

If prepared properly, a steak is delicious whether it's cowardly or brave. Ribeye for a preference.

Lets see, Jefferson Davis lead a separatist movement to get away from a wanna be dictator. Hitler was a Dictator and hated Confederacies. Your analogy is a little shaky.

Refer to Mein Kampf Chapter X, Hitler thought Confederacies had just to much freedom, the same opinion you hold. How's that funny little mustache coming along?

Hardly. Both men were born outside the 'countries' they would eventually rule. Both were first appointed to their office and then were later 'elected' unopposed. Both ignored their constitutions at will. Both took their countries into wars without the approval of their legislatures, which they both lost and which devastated their populations as a result. Both believed in a master race. Both ran big, intrusive governments which suppressed civil liberties. Both of their governments exercised controls over large parts of their economies. Both headed countries whose war-time economies were heavily dependent on slave labor. The parallels are positively eerie.

Refer to Mein Kampf Chapter X...

I admit I haven't read much of "Mein Kampt". But I have read parts of Davis' "Rise and Fall of the Confederate Government". I'm sure the two are quite similar.

One never more fully describes the true nature of themselves than when they attempt to describe the nature of another. We have a constitution we live by. It gives us freedoms no other people in history have ever known. It’s how I want to live in a untied country as this one is. I know what this web-site is called. if you want to live in a Balkanized country, go find one. And don’t equate me in the same sentence as Adolf hitler.

Statist? Your old grandmother! Listen pal, I’m a former Leftist who once ‘’sipped the Kool-aid’’ and you sound remarkably like the people I left behind. I’m now a passionate conservative. Since when is wanting to live in The United States of America, as in all fifty of them ‘’statist’’?
