Given that the observation has been forthcoming from such sources as the editorial pages of the San Francisco Chronicle and Los Angeles Times, it is not a partisan potshot to note that Democrat Barbara Boxer has been ineffective as a California senator. After 18 years in the Senate, Boxer deserves the thanks of Californians for her service, but not re-election. As the Chronicle observed, There is no reason to believe that another six-year term would bring anything but more of the same uninspired representation.
Meanwhile, much more so than with past Boxer Senate opponents, Republican Carly Fiorina offers promise. The former Hewlett-Packard CEO understands the state and national economies in a way that few lawmakers do and her expertise is badly needed as the U.S. slogs through yet another year of high unemployment and weak growth.
By contrast, Boxers recent interest in helping the private-sector economy through support for legislation boosting small businesses is an election-year phenomenon. In sharp contrast with Fiorina and with Dianne Feinstein, her fellow California Democratic senator Boxer has been indifferent to the entrepreneurs who are so crucial to promoting growth and has a cartoonish view of corporations as inherently evil.
As for Fiorina, though she is a social conservative, she doesnt seem to have an appetite for divisive culture wars. We hope this proves to be the case and that her priorities are promoting job creation and a healthy economy not demonizing groups for perceived short-term political advantage.
We urge voters to choose Fiorina.
Democrat Barbara Boxer has been ineffective as a California senator. ......................... Maybe because she’s from Brooklyn? You can take her out of Brooklyn, but can Brooklyn be taken out of her?
As a pro-life conservative Republican, I can understand the need to address people’s immediate concerns, which are jobs and the economy. I am no less concerned with pro-life issues just because many people are unemployed or under-employed. Let’s fix the economy first.
Holy Crap Batman, the San Diego Red Union-Tribune promoting a Republican? I better check if the sun sets in the west today...
Not only a major newspaper in CA, but in SAN FRANCISCO. That’s the city where they want to build homes for the homeless and buy them steak dinners. THAT is an amazing endorsement.
I missed this quote on the first read. I really like the description of Boxer's "cartoonish view" of corporations.
Seems to me that describes the almost everyone in the RAT party.
"Good! Good!..Boxer will be gone soon..no one can stop us! HAHAHAHAHAHA!"
The outright endorsement is from the San Diego paper, not San Francisco.
It is notable, however, that the San Francisco Chronicle decided to not endorse anybody in the Senate race this year.
Boxer this, Boxer that, yet they never referred to this bug as..... senator Boxer.
I hope the dipstick read this during her breakfast.
One wonders why it took them 18 years to figure it out.
the san diego soviet union tribune sux.
Yes, ma’am, I hope she reads her name without the title. She may have to get used to that.
We know she worked so hard to earn that title of “Senator”.
I can think of a better title for her. I hope we can call her “private citizen Barbara Boxer” very soon.
Here’s another CA paper that endorsed Carly:
