I thought it was a strange ad.

It showed an old photograph of a happy family, inclusing little Barney.
Barney made his father proud, by going to college.
Barney's father dies.
Barney has to leave college, to save the family business (no idea what kind of business that was)
Barney leaves the private sector and becomes a government parasite.

Well, that last bit wasn't quite mentioned -- but they jumped through warp space from the "young Barney saves Dad's business" to the "vote to re-elect the long time Washington insider" concept. How did we get here?

I can't imagine the ad will sway any independents.

Is Sean Bielat running ads showing Barney Frank defending Fannie and Freddie, denying that there is a problem there?
