Sarah Palin sure has some fair-weather friends. In Alaska, when Joe Miller was still a nobody, Palin's endorsement put him on the map and pushed him to a primary victory over incumbent senator Lisa Murkowski. Now it's the general election, and Miller has to appeal to a broader audience than the GOP diehards who vote in primaries. So when he was asked point-blank this week whether Palin is qualified to be president, he merely acknowledged that she's constitutionally eligible.
In Delaware, Palin endorsed Christine O'Donnell five days before her primary bid against well-respected Mike Castle, who was widely seen as the favorite to win. But now O'Donnell needs to steal moderates away from Democrat Chris Coons to have any chance at another upset in November. So when O'Donnell was asked on CNN last night whether Palin is qualified to be president, she replied, "Is she running for president? Again, hypothetical."

Precious is the one cozying up with the RNC, not me.
She’s not qualified, but either is that Jackass we’ve got in there now
Im thinking they have directions from Palin not to say. Shes playing it pretty close. She wants to be in control of any announcements or Pundit talk.
She isn’t.
“It was a little strange that Miller and O’Donnell took a pass.”
I agree. Here they had a chance for their campaigns to become completely distracted by MSMediot gotcha games.
Miller and O’Donnell could have shown they were typical Republicans by falling into a mediot trap, but instead they took Gov. Palin’s advice and just say no the MSMediots.
I wonder what should believe about what they think about Palin’s qualifications to be president, their words or deeds? What you think?
I read an article the other day where a Canadian journalist (lib of course) went berserk to try and engage her.
Finally he tracked her to Wasilla, and caught her in a small town event. When he identified himself to her, she froze her smile, turned away, and told the audience the MSM was full of lies.
They misrepresented this woman and attacked her every chance they could, all the while stroking and slobbering over Obama, a person far less qualified who IMHO probably has so much bad baggage in his closet no dem can afford to even peek in that door. Good for her.
One day someone is going to be able to really write a book exposing some of the really dirtier facts in a less charged atmosphere, and it is going to leave people gasping at what they voted in.
I have many reasons, however I wanted to hear WHY people believe she is qualified. I am not interested in discussing WHY I don’t see her as the ideal. I wanted to see if I was over looking something spectacular about her. This thread is about Sarah Palin being qualified not on my skepticism. Do a search on my user name, “nmh” and you’ll see my reasons. It’s no secret.
Oh, please. Get over yourself.
Some things you may not know about Sarah Palin:
What A Fisherman Says About Sarah Palin
by Dewie Whetsell, Alaskan Fisherman
As posted in comments on Greta Van Susterens article referencing the MoveOn.org ad about Sarah Palin.
The last 45 of my 66 years Ive spent in a commercial fishing town in Alaska. I understand Alaska politics but never understood national politics well until this last year. Heres the breaking point: Neither side of the Palin controversy gets it. Its not about persona, style, rhetoric, its about doing things. Even Palin supporters never mention the things that Im about to mention here.
1- Democrats forget when Palin was the Darling of the Democrats, because as soon as Palin took the Governors office away from a fellow Republican and tough SOB, Frank Murkowski, she tore into the Republicans Corrupt Bastards Club (CBC) and sent them packing. Many of them are now residing in State housing and wearing orange jump suits. The Democrats reacted by skipping around the yard, throwing confetti and singing la la la la (well, you know how they are). Name another governor in this country that has ever done anything similar. But while youre thinking, Ill continue.
2- Now with the CBC gone, there were fewer Alaskan politicians to protect the huge, giant oil companies here. So, she constructed and enacted a new system of splitting the oil profits called ACES. Exxon (the biggest corporation in the world) protested and Sarah told them dont let the door hit you in the stern on your way out. They stayed, and Alaska residents went from being merely wealthy to being filthy rich. Of course the other huge international oil companies meekly fell in line. Again, give me the name of any other governor in the country that has done anything similar.
3- The other thing she did when she walked into the governors office is she got the list of State requests for federal funding for projects, known as pork. She went through the list, took 85% of them and placed them in the when-hell-freezes-over stack. She let locals know that if we need something built, well pay for it ourselves. Maybe she figured she could use the money she got from selling the previous governors jet because it was extravagant. Maybe she could use the money she saved by dismissing the governors cook (remarking that she could cook for her own family), giving back the State vehicle issued to her, maintaining that she already had a car, and dismissing her State provided security force (never mentioning-I imagine-that shes packing heat herself). Im still waiting to hear the names of those other governors.
4- Now, even with her much-ridiculed gosh and golly mannerism, she also managed to put together a totally new approach to getting a natural gas pipeline built which will be the biggest private construction project in the history of North America. No one else could do it although they tried. If that doesnt impress you, then youre trying too hard to be unimpressed while watching her do things like this while baking up a batch of brownies with her other hand.
5- For 30 years, Exxon held a lease to do exploratory drilling at a place called Point Thompson. They made excuses the entire time why they couldnt start drilling. In truth they were holding it like an investment. No governor for 30 years could make them get started. This summer, she told them she was revoking their lease and kicking them out. They protested and threatened court action. She shrugged and reminded them that she knew the way to the court house. Alaska won again.
6- President Obama wants the nation to be on 25% renewable resources for electricity by 2025. Sarah went to the legislature and submitted her plan for Alaska to be at 50% renewable by 2025. We are already at 25%. I can give you more specifics about things done, as opposed to style and persona . Everybody wants to be cool, sound cool, look cool. But thats just a cover-up. Im still waiting to hear from liberals the names of other governors who can match what mine has done in two and a half years. I wont be holding my breath.
By the way, she was content to return to AK after the national election and go to work, but the haters wouldnt let her. Now these adolescent screechers are obviously not scuba divers..
And no one ever told them what happens when you continually jab and pester a barracuda. Without warning, it will spin around and tear your face off. Shoulda known better.
I support Sarah Palin.
Dewie Whetsell, Alaska
I’m with Dewie. Any of these things make her more qualified than most of the field, unless you prefer your candidates to be part of the already established Washington “political class.”
Dewey, some folks on this thread are not going to be happy with your SPECIFICS, lol.
I love that letter by Dewie.
Now in addition to that impressive list of accomplishments, who else has been fighting as hard as Sarah to take back America from the commies in DC since 08’? Who else bunches up the panties of liberals as much as Sarah?
She’s got grounded moxie. Liberals have a penis in their ass.
“Shes got grounded moxie.”
Sarah has more Moxie than anyone I can remember since I first voted.
I don’t care to think about what the RATS are putting up their buts.
George Soros’s sexual fantasy. Liberals will follow any handout they can get.
Short and sweet---Sarah Palin accomplished more in two years as governor than most governors accomplish in two terms. I suggest you go look up the actual record of what she did. I have, and I don't know of any other governor with a similar track record of success. I think Christie might match it, but he hasn't yet.
As to "foreign policy experience or savvy", with her perspicaciousness about people, she can hire the expertise.
Palin, According to a Democrat
Every once in a while I visit the Indiana University Water Cooler Discussion board. Today I saw a post over there that I thought would be of interest here. Keep in mind that most of the posters there are ultra liberal, so Im sure it made their heads explode.
Here it is:
- - - - - -
CO. Hoosier, Im not even sure that I can be classified as a Palin fan, but I am kind of an observer. An old school buddy of mine has worked within the Alaska legislature for the last twenty years or so. Hes a registered Democrat and has worked on projects that allowed him to cross paths with her going back when she was a city commissioner, as the mayor, and as the governor.
He told me that the picture painted of her as a mindless ideologue is about 180 degrees off base. He said that over the years, hed probably dealt with her a couple of dozen times and that her input and/or decisions were always supported by law and not by personal beliefs.
The thing he told me about her that really peaked my interest of her was her ability to process information and then to quickly forge a plan with the information she was given. He said she was a living, breathing CPM chart. He said he had seen her on multiple occasions on a variety of subjects instantly absorb input from others and then respond with cogent solutions to problems. He said if you put her in a room with a bunch of people, the chances would be great that shed be the smartest one in the room.
He told me that when he saw her debacle with Katie Couric, his first thought was, who is that Sarah Palin imposter? He said that was not the Sarah Palin he had worked with for years. He was sure that the interview was highly edited. It came out later that there was almost six hours of the interview that people didnt see.
He told me that if I really wanted to get a feel of who she is and how she dealt with powerful people, I should read the book, Sarah Takes On Big Oil. It was released in October, 2008 and written by two of the states top oil & gas editors. The lady they described had no fear to stand toe-to-toe with heavyweights and leave them slinking away with their tales between their legs. She told them that she was the advocate of the citizens of Alaska and there would be no deal making that would adversely affect them. The big boys at Exxon-Mobile and BP folded like a cheap suit.
One other thing he told me that still amazes him was how she managed to get people to work together. According to him, she could take two people with opposing opinions, sit down with them, listen to them, offer her solutions, and both guys would leave happy and not feeling that they had compromised their position at all.
He laughed at the she doesnt read meme. He said it is well known in the capitol that she was a voracious reader. She truly did read most of the national mags and newspapers, mostly on line, as well as a dozen or so energy trade magazines. According to him, there were stories about how she would take home stacks of papers and reports to prepare for a next-morning meeting and it was as if every word of those reports were stamped into her brain when she sat down at the meeting.
He told me not to be fooled by her syntax or her colloquialisms because they were not a fair barometer of her smarts. He said if people would just listen and not try to read between the lines, she was easy to understand. He said hed love to see her and Obama in a debate about energy or even healthcare. He said shed clean his clock. He even said that if she were given a day or two to prepare for a debate on foreign affairs, his money would still be on her.
He said she was the epitome of a leader. She assembled her staff, listened to their advice, allowed opposing ideas to be heard, and then acted accordingly. As a manager, she advocated making a plan based on the best info available, budgeting the plan, working the plan, measuring results, and quickly adjusting the plan if it was determined it wasnt working as expected. She believed in the First Law of Holes.
He thought her biggest struggles in the 2008 campaign were the product of trying to endorse McCains positions on issues. She was able to voice her dissenting opinion on ANWR because her views were known, but on everything else she was expected to toe the McCain line. He said that she lacked the ability to shovel crap and sell it as perfume.
He reminded me that anyone who denies the accuracy of her death panel metaphor should go back and read her exact words, both her initial FB post and her rebuttal of Obamas attack on her words. He said read what she wrote, not what someone wrote or said what she wrote. Her words in those posts have already been proven to be true.
He said that divisive is not a word that should be used to describe her. He said that was just a simple use of Alinskys rule #13. He said, look at all the issues. Her position is in line with the majority on virtually all of them.
He told me she wasnt perfect, but if I read something or heard something that was negative, I should check it out a little closer. He shared a lot more, but Im afraid Ive already rambled on for too long.
Should she run in 2012? I really dont know. Would I vote for her? It depends who shes running against. Will she drive the agenda if she doesnt run? Yes, for a long time.

Go and look up her track record of accomplishments during her partial term. She got more concrete things done in that short time than any of the other "whiz kids" (i.e. Jindal) did in their entire tenure. And she believes in all the things that America once stood for, which CANNOT be said of, for instance, Romney and Huckabee, to name just two.
