WASHINGTON -- At some point after calming the threatening seas and sprinkling world peace around the globe, President Obama promised us he would find time to bring about a political truce in Washington.
On the Seventh Day or thereabouts, the "post-racial" Obama would become the first "post-partisan" president.
Of all his audacious promises, this was one of his most pedestrian. After all, his party firmly controlled the White House and both chambers of Congress, and his approval ratings were flying close to the sun.
With absolute strength, Obama was perfectly positioned to work with conservatives and Republicans to govern from a position of magnanimity and common sense. Sure, it was a bit startling when just three days into his reign, he hosted congressional Republican leaders at the White House.
"I won," he told them flatly.
Obama works in mysterious ways. So, two years hence, how is all that post-partisanship working out now, you wonder?
Just ask Rep. Joseph Cao, the congressman representing Louisiana's Second District.

O will remain a piece of S=== He does not belong in this position at all. You, whoever you are, that voted this thing in needs to be very ashamed.
I can’t believe the 53% who voted for him didn’t know exactly what they were getting.
I don’t understand buyer’s remorse setting in so quickly when the product was so transparently defective from the get-go.
If it weren’t from a major newspaper, I probably would have stuck it in “Blogs/Personal” with all the other anti-Obama pot-shots.
Still, it is good to see NYC writers telling it like it is about Hussein.
Well, they are out there darling. There are obviously more of them than they are of us.....at least at the last election. Pitiful. that anyone like this dude would ever ever get into the White House, isn’t it??????????
At least now he isn’t hiding, he is ready for “Hand to hand” conflict.
Why does that make me think about Larry Sinclair?
They were expecting a Dem gravy train but the gravy turned rancid very fast.
Need to change partisan to parasite in headline.
Figures they would put it in the largely unread Saturday edition.
True...if I weren’t sitting here waiting to be picked up to go to my grandson’s Pop Warner football game, I wouldn’t have read it either.
Hey, did you hear about all the companies he excluded from the health care crap? He did that on executive orders.
“Hey, did you hear about all the companies he excluded from the health care crap? He did that on executive orders.”
But only for a year, because of the upcoming elections. He’s all show and no go.
Pop Warner football rocks.
Have some fun today.
:)
Yes, how does the law put it? “As the Secretary deems” or something like that?
Anybody who would vote for something that slippery really needs to have his head examined. I realize that few read it but I think the ones who did might be even more culpable.
