"You'd have to be a pretty superficial person not to know that she was illegal."

So they are saying that "racial profiling" does work? If this is true, why aren't law enforcement officers allowed to use it to enforce the laws of the United States of America?

Well, just keep in mind that most of these women are criminals in that they hire illegal aliens.

Rather than being celebrated in this article, they should be rounded up and placed in FEMA camps.

The bottom line? Tough to back a candidate who cannot find an illegal alien right in her home.

These same women probably treat their domestics like dirt. Spoiled liberals who can’t wait to get quoted in the local paper.

Hector Tobar is a Los Angeles author and journalist whose work examines the evolving and interdependent relationship between Latin America and the United States. He was born in Guatemala. He is currently a weekly columnist for the Los Angeles Times. Previously, he was the paper’s bureau chief in Mexico City and in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He also worked for several years as the National Latino Affairs Correspondent. In 1992, he won a Pulitzer Prize for his work as part of the team covering the L.A. riots for the Los Angeles Times.

If that's true, then what a horrible person Meg Whitman is," a 49-year-old mother of two told me as she headed to one of the Country Mart's boutiques. "How could she have this woman in her home, looking after her kids, and not have a relationship with her? You'd have to be a pretty superficial person not to know that she was illegal."

This is the kind of woman who would then be shocked to find her husband had been cheating on her for the past 10 years -- "I just thought he had to work late a lot".

Because, as we all know, nobody ever keeps any secrets from people they know well.

This is how the media trashes conservatives. They take a one-day-max story, something out of millions of things to be considered, and turn it into story after story after story.

This is like Macaca for George Allen, a single slip of the tongue that turned into dozens of newspaper articles over the course of several weeks.

These Westside moms told me that when a woman works in your kitchen, cleans your bathrooms and prepares your food, day in and day out, you can't help but learn a lot about her.

Wow! Would my wife like that.

How come Whitman is supposed to recognize an illegal alien, but Arizona cops can’t?

great...another story with anonymous/nameless sources. For all we know, the writer could have never left the office while doing this story.

Can you imagine if Whitman had said “Hispanics need not apply” rather than take a chance on hiring an illegal, or as it turned out, a lying illegal? Henceforth, I recommend everyone hire Swedish, Irish, Greek or Italian household help.

The fine ladies of Brentwood are, basically, Hollywood libs. What they have to say comes from that perspective and is the reason the reporter went to that neighborhood, merely to confirm what s/he wanted to story to reveal.

Shocker! A lefty with a latino name from the L.A. times comes out with a hit piece on Whitman? Will wonders never cease?

I’ll bet all 5 of the paper’s remaining readers read that article right after they checked their horoscopes.

OMG. She obviously has no chance of winning now. The rich working women with an illegal immigrant mexican maid demographic has now come out against her. Such a large voting block can’t possibly be lost and still be able to pull out this election.

"How could she have this woman in her home, looking after her kids, and not have a relationship with her?"

My guess is that Meg Whitman, as head of Yahoo, was working 70+ hour weeks. She didn't really have time or interest to develop a "relationship" with the woman who cleaned her home.
