California grossly miscalculated pollution levels in a scientific analysis used to toughen the state's clean-air standards, and scientists have spent the past several months revising data and planning a significant weakening of the landmark regulation, The Chronicle has found.

- Estimate
global warming pollution at 20 degrees 20000 tons, unless we ACT NOW! - Act now
- Profit!
- Measure
global warming pollution at 0.02 degrees 2 pounds. - Declare victory!

Ideologues never lie or miscalculate - they tell you what they want for their position.
The problem is the politicians that pass laws are on this garage.

Since this administration is so enamored with all things European, let’s adopt THEIR diesel standards, and allow their many diesel models (which are competitive in mpg with hybrids) in, and maybe manufacture some ourselves.

These people need to be held personally accountable for their actions.
If they were led out to the street in front of the house they used to own wearing only rags as their sole possessions, that would be too good for them.

Since this administration is so enamored with all things European, lets adopt THEIR diesel standards, and allow their many diesel models (which are competitive in mpg with hybrids) in, and maybe manufacture some ourselves. Exactly! When you compare two identical cars, one powered by diesel and the other by gasoline, you find that the diesel gets 30% better mileage.Today, something like two-thirds of the private passenger cars on the road in Europe are diesels.
I've owned my car,for example (my first diesel),for just over a year. It's comfortable...fully equipped...stylish...it has enough power to literally pin you back in your seat (it's a *beast*) and I easily get 40mpg on the Interstate.

My favorite part is the chairwoman who wouldn't comment on the miscalculation INSISTING that the "science" that supports the state senate bill on global warming is perfectly accurate.

Yes, the science is perfectly accurate.(except for the mistakes, mis-estimates, outcome driven conclusions, and the out right fraud of “climate change”)
It is past time to severely restrict what any federal or state environmental or endangered species agency is allowed to do after some severe roll backs of implemented regulations.
Part of a Tyranny.

It would seem they are basing the discrepancy (lie) in this article based on fuel use alone. When you look at the article written in the journal ‘Atmospheric Environment’, it would appear the estimates are even worse for some emissions:
“A new emission inventory for construction equipment emissions is developed based on surveys of diesel fuel use; the revised inventory is compared to current emission inventories. California’s OFFROAD model estimates are 4.5 and 3.1 times greater, for NOx and PM respectively, than the fuel-based estimates developed here.”
