But the fires of partisan anger seem to be stoked more effectively now. Jowers says we have a wide selection of sources we can get our political information from, and some of these sources are designed to share only the political opinion voters of either party want to hear.

He thinks these blogs, opinion pages and political talk shows from the right and the left have been so effective in vilifying the other party, that compromising with them has become nearly impossible.
