Republican John Raese now holds a six-point lead on Democratic Governor Joe Manchin in West Virginias shockingly competitive U.S. Senate race.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in West Virginia finds Raese with 50% support, while the states highly popular governor earns just 44% of the vote. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided.
These findings now move this race from a Toss-Up to Leans GOP in the Rasmussen Reports Election Senate Balance of Power rankings.
Raese, a businessman and unsuccessful Senate candidate in 2006, first edged ahead of Manchin last week 48% to 46%. The race, which initially seemed safely Manchins, now appears to be pitting the governors popularity in the state versus President Obamas unpopularity with West Virginia voters.

I love the smell of Obama Flop Sweat in the morning, it smells like, victory.
Somewhere, Jay Rockefellor is in a corner curled up in the fetal position sucking his thumb.
I wonder what Sheets is doing?
What I wouldn’t give to be a fly on the wall in Shelley Capito’s office as she gets this news.
I don’t know of Mr. Raese but he must be running one heck of a campaign.
Fannnnntabulous.
And once the Rep wins he IMMEDIATLY takes office! (I think)!
‘Somewhere, Jay Rockefellor is in a corner curled up in the fetal position sucking his thumb.’
He claims he’s going to ‘retire’. and why wouldn’t he, he helped Obama get everything through, that he and his daddy wanted decades ago...
I dont know of Mr. Raese but he must be running one heck of a campaign.————
Yeah, it called being the Anti Obama.
This is good news for my wonderful state!!!
This is a solid Blue State hellhole, on the verge of partial liberation.
My guess is the voters are seeing Manchin;s flip-flops for what they are - blatant pandering.
44% is pretty low for the Dem. He is going to have a tough time in WV. My guess is WV does not like the Islamo-Kenyan too much.
Brilliant move.
Awesome. Great idea. The GOP candidates need to bring up Obama plus Pelosi.
He was at a town hall meeting about 2 weeks ago. He is a doer, successful business man who won’t be a rubber stamp for Obama....his message is on target and its resonating with the state & local dems. Both he and McKinley(for Mollohans seat) spoke passionately about the issues.....Manchin never showed but his sub and Oliverio (D)were dull as drones.....plus they took a beating. It was fun to watch! The repubs have been working the state hard
