A leading tea party activist broke ranks Monday to endorse Democratic Rep. Mike McIntyre of North Carolina, expressing concern about a Republican challenger who was once charged with murder in connection with his military service in Iraq.

Deborah Johns said it appears that voters are ignoring Republican candidate Ilario Pantano's past.

Pantano, a Marine Corps officer during the Iraq war, was charged with premeditated murder in 2005, and prosecutors accused him of shooting two Iraqis in the back. An investigating officer later said Pantano made "serious errors" in judgment but should not be brought to trial for murder.

It’s against the rules for a soldier to shoot the enemy in the back? Is this in every scenario? For instance, the enemy is retreating. You’re supposed to let them go, regroup then attack again?

Any idea why she is “former vice-chair”, unless it’s just that moving to NC would make the commute a challenge?

A vote for democrat Mike McIntyre is a vote for Pelosi.

It would be better to endorse NOBODY if the (R) candidate is flawed.

I am sure he will turn it down since the TEA Party is such a radical, fringe, and racist group.

Even his BigLib buddy Conyers said that the Tea Party will only hurt those people it supports. These jerks really need to get on the same page with their Yellow Journalism.

Ms. Johns was terminated last year by the Tea Party Express for cause. Pantano campaign makes it clear that she has absolutely no involvement with the tea party activities of the Tea Party Express, nor will she ever in the future.

Ms. Johns was similarly terminated from her position with Combat Veterans for Congress and no longer is associated with their organization as well.

Maybe someone involved with the T.E.A Party Express can help shed some light on this woman.

Party Express Clarifies Role of Former Vice Chair, Deborah Johns

Several news media outlets today reported on Deborah Johns’ decision to oppose the candidacy of Republican congressional candidate (and Iraq war veteran) Ilario Pantano and cited Ms. Johns former role as Vice Chair of the Tea Party Express.

Ms. Johns was terminated last year by the Tea Party Express for cause. We do not agree with her views regarding Mr. Pantano one bit. We wish to make it clear that she has absolutely no involvement with the tea party activities of the Tea Party Express, nor will she ever in the future.

It is our understanding that Ms. Johns was similarly terminated from her position with Combat Veterans for Congress and no longer is associated with their organization as well.

We find Ms. Johns’ comments towards a proud Iraq war veteran abhorrent and reprehensible. They do not speak for our organization nor reflect our views in any way, shape or form

Nothing to see here.

Deborah Johns is a big supporter of former candidate Will Breazeale, a 2-bit fraudster who got pissed off about losing the primary to Pantano, endorsed McIntyre, and runs around calling Pantano a murderer.

Disgusting piece of filth.

My thoughts exactly.

A grownup decision not to endorse a candidate does not require endorsing his opponent.

Is this the same guy whose case was featured on Michael Savage? If so, the accusations sound totally bogus as the so-called victims were known terrorists.

Our men have no obligation to fight Al Qaida according to Robert's Rules of Order until such time, if any, that Al Qaida signs on to the Geneva Convention and adheres to it.

This is the trouble with the Tea Party having “Leaders”.

One goes rogue by doing something like this and the MSM jumps all over it.

Great Find!

Should the media (TV) interview Deborah Johns is there
a lawsuit Ilario Pantano could bring for securing equal time?

It appears as this is being pushed by certain media, Crichton's
information could see the light of day, as well...imho
