British intelligence denies US terror warnings sparked by new info (No evidence of 'imminent' plot)
Guardian UK ^ | 10/3/2010 | Richard Norton-Taylor

Fresh warnings of possible terror attacks in Europe issued by the US were not sparked any new intelligence, counter-terrorism, security and intelligence officials said.

There seems no doubt there has been "chatter", or intercepted communications, between suspected jihadists and al-Qaida sympathisers plotting in the tribal areas of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan.

The suggestion, first reported in the US press, was that they were planning a series of "commando-style" attacks, something European security agencies have feared since the co-ordinated killings in Mumbai two years ago in which 174 people died.

European officials again made it clear yesterday they were "irritated" with the US for leaking stories before they could gather more intelligence. There was no evidence that a plot was imminent, and intelligence was described by a well-placed Whitehall official as "ill-defined".

British counter-intelligence officials play down any suggestion of links between the US attacks in Pakistan and intelligence pointing to potential "commando-style" assaults in western Europe. European anti-terror officials, who warned against making any such link, also emphasised they had the same intelligence as the US, since they shared it.

Yesterday's warning from the state department was part of a move to encourage the US and Europe to speak with one voice after the confusion of the past week. It was initially rumoured that the US would recommend its citizens to stay away from high-profile sites in Europe.

Top 10 Reasons Obama Returned Churchill

It has been reported that Barack Obama has returned a bust of Winston Churchill to the Brits even though they did not ask for it back. The bust was loaned to the White House in the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 attacks as a demonstration of solidarity with the United States.

So we wondered, why would Obama do such a thing?

Top 10 Reasons Obama Returned Churchill

10 — We only play nice with dictators and thugs.

9 — It was returned by mistake. Joe Biden thought it was Michael Caine.

8 — "It kept staring at me saying 'Appeasement doesn't work! Appeasement doesn't work!"

7 — Thought it was made of chocolate and would melt in the 85 degree oval office.

6 — Had to make room for trillion dollar taxpayer ATM machine and a teleprompter.

5 — Obama said, "Sorry, I never heard of the guy! Guess they didn't teach that at my madrassa."

4 — Thought "special relationship" with England meant something completely different.

3 — Returned with the request to send bust of Neville Chamberlain.

2 — Found out Churchill said, "There is no such thing as a good tax."

1 — Was not aware it opened entrance to the Bat Cave.

From here.

Interesting. And it’s interesting that the British intelligence agencies chose the left-wing Guardian to give this complaint to. Similar to the CIA in this country, which seems to have press links only on the left—the Washington Post, NY Times, etc.

I imagine this is true. They’ve been listening in on these guys, picking up their communications back to base, and keeping tabs on them for pickup just before they decide to act. Now U.S. intelligence has leaked all of that, and given away some important details—such as the fact that communications are being intercepted and people are being watched. So, the whole operation has been skunked.

I was wondering what was going on. What, did they lose track of the terrorist groups, and now are desperately warning people to watch out? This explanation makes a lot more sense.

U.S. intellegence would never have leaked this to the left wing flunkies in the MSM without Obama’s approval. They did leaks like this to undermine and embarrass Bush, but the same leftist intelligence leaders certainly wouldn’t have done this without Obama’s permission.

I presume that this is meant as an October surprise, and as an effort to portray Obama as being on top of the terrorist threat and ready to defend us from danger. If so, I seriously doubt that it will work. No one but an idiot would imagine that Obama and Big Sis are doing a great job defending our country from its Islamist enemies. Quite the contrary: This merely calls attention to Obama’s weakness, if not malignity.

OBAMA THE GREAT will save us from everything real and imaginary. He will slay the dragon with his bare hands.
He will cure us with the touch of his hand, his tears will end the suffering in the world. The sound of his voice will result in world peace.

Sounds like the Obama minions want (ficticious) heightened terror threat levels going into the election.

Marty, that was my first thought too. Just a few years ago, it would not have entered my mind—but with this crew, anything is possible. (Except the right thing, of course.)

Not media driven, White House driven. You must always take note that in the best Goebbels tradition, the leftist media is the propaganda tool of the Democrat party.

The Democrat party and the press are America’s worst enemies.

I can’t imagine a crisis such as a terrorist attack (or credible imminent threat of same) would be beneficial to Dems or BamBam. After everything else we’ve endured from them the past 2 years? If anything, I think it would more firmly solidify the opposition. People want adults back in charge.
