A veteran CBS Radio News correspondent was arrested early Saturday on drug charges after police searched his Northwest Washington home and found marijuana plants growing in his yard, police said.
Officers arrested Howard Arenstein, 60, and his wife, Orly Katz, 57, at their home in the 3500 block of T Street and charged them with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, police said.
According to his biography on CBS News's Web site, Arenstein's wife, known professionally as Orly Azoulay, is a Washington correspondent for Yedioth Ahronoth, one of Israel's most widely circulated newspapers.
Police executed a search warrant at the home Saturday after a tip from an area resident, police said. A police report said cannabis was recovered from the home; officers said they found 11 full-grown marijuana plants and six 2-ounce bags of marijuana. Authorities consider each plant to equal a pound of marijuana.

Seems like a lot of marijuana being grown for an elderly man and his missus for “personal use”.
I can’t place this guy. Anybody have a photo to post?
Hemp heads unite! You have nothing to loose but your minds!
“Uh, elderly?!”
They aren’t “elderly” but I think the assumption may have been that only someone in their twenties or early thirties would do this.
To my knowledge, Arenstein has never been a TV correspondent for CBS News. All of his work has been on the radio side, out of the Washington bureau.
Of course, we can probably guess why Arenstein never made it to the TV side. Even the news execs at CBS don’t want a correspondent appearing on camera in a tie-dyed T-shirt supporting “NORML.”
Shucks, everybody needs a hobby.
See the picture I posted at #9. I remember seeing him on TV occasionaly.
“To my knowledge, Arenstein has never been a TV correspondent for CBS News. All of his work has been on the radio side, out of the Washington bureau.”
He likely has a face perfect for radio.
Oh, now I see the photo. I was right.
When one remembers that only the "buds" (less than 10% of the plant's total mass) are considered worth smoking, this article shows just how dishonest and hyperbolic the drug warriors are.
OH, and it's "LOSE", not loose.
Remember that the first laws regarding the cannabis plant were that you had to commit a certain percentage of your land to its growth in order to provide the materials for naval rope making. That's why it STILL grows wild in ditches all through the farm belt. Yes, it's a different variety, but try telling your DEA folks.
Besides, who are they hurting other than themselves?
It never fails to amaze me that on a forum where the individual is considered supreme and the ultimate arbiter of his own fate, there are those who try to foist thier own propagandized opinions on everyone else. IT'S A FLIPPING PLANT, PEOPLE!
That is an assumption that has me sitting here chuckling.
Let me guess, you want tobacco banned.
I was pointing out the idiocy of the drug warriors, and you come out of nowhere accusing me of drug warrior behaviour and statist impulses about tobacco?
You’re not stupid, and I doubt you’re drunk right now, so why the baseless and inane attack?
Or do you need a reading comprehension course, since you seem to read things into writings that aren’t there at all?
Good grief.
I wasn’t attacking you. I was merely pointing out that a majority of the people who are pushing for MJ legalization are the same ones who are pushing for the banning of tobacco and tobacco products.
Do you have anything whatsoever to substantiate that claim?
