Aside from Blanco, who won the Gov’s office openly, no Lt Governor has succeeded an incumbent via resignation or death since Earl Long in 1939 when he replaced Richard Leche (who resigned due to corruption). I don’t expect Jindal to go to the Presidency, so I figure the only other out would be if he runs against Mary Landrieu in 2014.
