Want to be out after 10 at night in the presence of a woman? Good luck, if you're a football player in Lawrence, Kan. Correction, make that a college football player in Lawrence; high school gridders have greater freedoms these days than anyone on the Jayhawks.

Just about the only thing for a college football player to do in Lawrence, Kansas after 10PM is get arrested. The coach is probably just trying to protect his players - and his team’s chances of succeeding this season.
Turner Gil did one heck of a job at Buffalo and I expect BIG things out of him with the Jay Hawks.
Saturday night in Lawrence, Kansas is like being no place at all.
They roll up the sidewalks precisely at 10. Football players are not seen again.
I think Kansas fans are wanting Mark Mangino back.
Can’t remember if it was Kansas or a Kansas State player a few years ago who got arrested because he got stuck in the drive thru window at Taco Bell....wanting to beat up someone for not serving him a chalupa.
Can’t blame Gill for getting strict on his players. Gill has always been a stand-up guy and wants to run a good program. The job he did at Buffalo was nothing short of a miracle....that program was abysmal before he got there
...I live about 20 minutes from Oak Hill Academy.....it is a Baptist boarding school and has the best h.s.basketball program in the country...they have classes 6 days a week and church on the seventh...about 200 boys a year beg for a chance to go there, and anybody that can’t follow the rules gets the boot...they obey because they want a shot at going to the pros one day....and that’s the leverage that Gill has...if you want a shot at going to the pros, obey his rules....if not; turn in your playbook...I don’t blame him a bit.
Seems a little extreme. If he is doing it temporarily to change a culture that has gotten too wild, that is one thing. If he wants to keep these rules permanently, no one will come play at Kansas and they will become more of a joke than they already are.
As I recall last year almost turned the KU campus into a gang war between the basketball team and the football team. I’d like to see him challenge Bill Self to rein in his guys similarly for a year or two. Good job Coach
Ugh. Bill Walton was coached by JOHN WOODEN, the coach I was referring to in my previous post. Bill Walton wasn’t the coach. Anyway...

Classic story No. 1. It was a KU DL. I laugh every time I picture that Coming in 2nd were the 2 KU players who stole a coed’s purse then ordered a pizza on her credit card for HOME delivery.
ROFL Good luck Gill
Rather odd how KU is imitating KSU. Kansas Satete brought in Ron prince and lost badly with him and the team headed south. Already was a bit lackluster by 2005, but one Prince came in with his plan to be strict and shape up the team they actually got worse every season. After three he was out and they brought back Bill Snyder, who had gotten bored of being retired.
Now Kansas which showed promise in 2007 and at least was consistent in 08, before a lackluster 2009, is quickly headed back to the junk status they had with ex-coach Terry Allen around 2002. Seems like Turner Gil is trying the same tricks as Ron Prince.
A 55-7 loss to Baylor is pathetic. I am sure the squad wants Mangino back. However, the ethics problems were what ended Mark Mangino and not the losing.

Well said!
We got Coach Al Golden at the same time Buffalo got Gil, and he too has focused on building young men, not just Football Players. His strong dedication to community service as well as academics has produced a team that accomplishes what it sets out to do, not just on the field but off.
Incidents of players getting arrested for burglary, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, etc. have been non-existent. Further, he's dismissed several star players for not getting with the program.
If only college football had all Al Goldens and Turner Gils, instead of Tommy Tuberville, Bobby Bowden, Larry Coker and Pete Caroll.
