“Yeah. I think it’s plain that little miss Nicky was working all the angles for quite some time. Problem is, the Whitman’s didn’t slip-up enough to make a millionaire out of her.”

These new ‘immigrants’ are looking for a scam to run. Ms. Whitman SHOULD have been more concerned with giving a native born US citizen a job. She’s not worried about Calif. CITIZENS. That was her big mistake.

Working Illegal Immigrants Outnumber Unemployed Texans

[snip]Representative Miller (R-Calif.): “Right now, nearly 2.3 million Californians are out of work, and this number does not account for the millions of others who have seen their hours reduced and wages cut during the recession. At the same time, however, nearly 1.8 million illegal immigrants hold jobs in California. This is simply unacceptable. If the Obama administration is serious about getting Americans off of the unemployment rolls, it needs to enforce our nation’s immigration laws to the highest extent, increase worksite enforcement efforts, and make E-Verify permanent. During these tough economic times, hardworking, job-seeking Americans deserve no less.”

The Reclaim American Jobs Caucus is a 40 Member, bipartisan caucus, headed by Representatives Lamar Smith, Sue Myrick and Gary Miller. As the national unemployment rate remains near 10%, the Reclaim American Jobs Caucus works to highlight the link between illegal immigration and record unemployment in the U.S.

You know, AuntB, speaking only from personal experience and acquaintances, I don't think it's that simple. As much as it pains me to say this, I have a son who is living off unemployment and his Army Reserve pay. The jobs he is offered pay him less than his current monthly income.

A neighbor's son, an engineer, laid-off two years ago, just moved back in with his mother, bringing his wife and their five children with him. They lost their home and their entire life savings trying to keep things together until he could find more work.

My cousin, an architect, laid- off last month after 20 years with the same firm.

None of these people can find any employment that brings an income anywhere close to what they formerly earned.

Me? I was wiped-out with the real estate crash in California. Lost all my savings, but fortunately I've managed to keep my house even though all the equity is gone (that was $300,000 from the top of the market). I work THREE PART-TIME JOBS and earn 3/5ths the income I had two years ago.

I oppose amnesty and turning a blind eye to illegals for the reasons of simple justice and national integrity. But, I'm not certain that eliminating them from the work force would raise all boats.
