"Sack Spratt." It's a message that's hard to miss, and for many people, one even harder to ignore.
During the past couple months, the bright yellow signs emblazoned with red text opposing long-sitting U.S. Rep. John Spratt, D-S.C., have blanketed South Carolina's 5th Congressional District in the ramp-up to the Nov. 2 election, where the 28-year congressman will face state Sen. Mick Mulvaney, R-Indian Land.
Sources with knowledge of the issue cite Gardner Gore, who was chairman of the campaign to elect Republican Ralph Norman to Spratt's seat in 2006, with creating and funding the signs.

Gore is also a Mulvaney supporter. In a Jan. 6 letter to the editor the The Item, Gore referred to Spratt as a "wild-spending liberal" who has "sold out" to Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., while calling Mulvaney a "true conservative" who will truly represent the people of the 5th District.
Efforts to reach Gore were unsuccessful, but Sumter County Republican Party Chairman Braden Bunch said to his knowledge, Gore is behind the signs.
Bunch said he is surprised with how popular the signs have become. "I think this is a testimony to how frustrated folks have become over Spratt's liberal Democrat leaning," he said. "There's true anger out there in his performance over the past two years."
The signs have spread throughout the district, including up to Spratt's campaign headquarters in Rock Hill, but have caught on like wildfire in Sumter. Bunch attributes that to Mulvaney's early interest in the city. Signs also outline sections of roads in neighboring Lee County.

Ping. I’m going to have to drive down across the border this weekend to see if I can spot any of these signs...
I hope the voters take the advise of the signs.
Come on down there’s one in my yard and one on the window of my pick up truck ..
Where can these wods of wisdom be obtained? I would love to spead some around my town and county
That reminds me. I need to start printing my “Te delatará, también, mi Amigo” signs for Lindsey’s reelection.
Could you help those of us who speak English as our first and only language? Thanks.
He’ll betray you too my friend.
Thanks. He already has :)
We traveled through Lee and Darlington counties last weekend, and the signs are everywhere along the roadsides. The red on yellow color scheme is very effective and eye-catching. I sure hope the good folks in the 5th District can rid themselves of Spratt.
Good to hear. I wish folks would do signs like this in other congressional districts as well...
