Michele Bachmann famously couldn’t let go of George W. Bush during an encounter with the president following his 2007 State of the Union address. Now, however, she can’t seem to get far enough away.
In a new ad out Wednesday, Bachmann distances herself from Bush and lumps him in with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Barack Obama.
“That’s why fought and I voted against the Bush Wall Street bailout, the failed Pelosi trillion-dollar stimulus and Obama’s government takeover of healthcare,” she says in the ad.
It’s a far cry from Bachmann’s warm embrace of Bush after his annual SOTU address three years ago. After that speech, in a moment memorialized on YouTube, Bachmann took Bush’s arm and held on even as he shook another congresswoman’s hand—and continued to hang on for at least 30 seconds until she received a hug and kiss from the president as well.
The Wall Street bailouts — formally the Troubled Asset Relief Program, or TARP — passed with some Republican support in 2008 at the end of Bush’s second term. The vote helped galvanize the tea party and has helped spell doom for several Republican House and Senate incumbents who have lost primaries, including South Carolina Rep. Bob Inglis.
Bachmann is running against state Sen. Tarryl Clark in Minnesota’s 6th District. She’s raised more than $4.7 million this cycle, in a contest that ranks as one of the most expensive House races this year.
Terrible Tarryl is around 10% points behind, so expect many more stories like this ...

I know I will now get flamed by the Michelle fans...I like her too. and flamed by the Bush Bashers too.
But you don’t need to join the left and bash Bush. give it a break..Just move forward. Its always ugly when conservatives start to tear down other conservatives.

But it sure would be nice to be able to vote for someone because I thought he/she was really the best one for the job.”

So was his not securing the border and not dealing with amnesty.
He’s not suffering; just the people are suffering.
I like Bush in many regards, but some of his policies and programs deserve loud criticism.
Hell, even the Patriot Act was a mistake in my mind. Too much open-ended power given to every administration. What happens when bad guys wield that power?

Politico is a totally liberal site that tries to pretend like they are not...hoping to sew discord among conservatives in every little way they can think of.
If you keep this in mind while reading their stuff, it's pretty easy to spot the pattern.

Also his proclivity to pick SC justices as reflected in his first choices: “Al” Gonzalez and Harriet Myers. Much in the vein of his old man’s picking Souter. Fortunately conservatives raised enought Cain to shame him into picking Roberts and Alito, two very good picks.
I am not so hard on Bush, he made some horrible mistakes, but I he was the best conservative the voting public would accept. And he got in but the thinnest possible of margins.
He had little political capital because of the margin of his election victory. The “public” was still too much in the “mushy middle”. We tend to forget here on FR we are preaching mostly to the choir. I think we can thank Zero, Reid & Pelosi for waking up the “public” to what's exactly at stake. We either be the USA or at best some warmed over lack luster dysfunctional version of Sweden. Worst case (which is where is possible!) would be unthinkable!
GW needs to be thrown under the bus.
Respectfully, Bachmann has been a target of the left since before Sarah became governor of Alaska.
Her being smeared has nothing to do with Palin.
But your larger point is correct: Politico covers for Obama and smears Palin.
Voting against the bailouts is worth bragging about.

Bush sold us out and he deserves to be under the bus.
I don’t agree that Bush should be thrown under the bus but his support of the Wall Street Bailout was just plain wrong and because of it we got Barack Obama.

How could I ever forget MediPill? When no one was asking for it, none of the Seasoned Citizens demanding it, out of the blue Jorge proposed, and the Republican Congress passed, the biggest welfare program since the LBJ administration.
