John Thune's Tan is Starting to Resemble Toast
RedState ^

Posted on 10/01/2010 9:29:04 AM PDT by CJBernard

Let’s be honest for a minute. John Thune is a great United States Senator from South Dakota. But the only reason people talk about him for President is because he’s a good looking guy in a city full of lesser looking people, is tall, and has an attractive wife.

Other than that his greatest accomplishments are doing nothing. But he gives a great talk about biennial budgeting, the topic of choice for establishmentarians who want to show a little leg.

The other day, Thune went on record dinging Jim DeMint for helping conservatives get elected. Thune also sided with Lisa Murkowski on her keeping her Senate seat.

Now comes word that Thune is doing zilch, zip, nada to help tea party backed Senate candidates.

WTF? I guess growing up in Murdo is not all it's cracked up to be.

Tell me again who is talking about Thune for President?

Never heard of such a clamor.

He’s been making the rounds recently, trying to get people to talk about him for president. Or VP. Or something.

Looks like he chose the wrong friends.

I’m relieved he’s exposed himself enough to keep real conservatives from backing him, and only see any value to his candidacy if he could peel off enough Romney votes to keep the Mittster from being our nominee.

So, it’s the RINO’s who are talking about Thune becoming President.

Hmmm... thanks for that info. Not good...

I always thought he and Mitt were best buds. Could never imagine what some conservatives saw in him.

Thune has worked his way down on my list of presidential preferences. It’s not that I wouldn’t vote for him out of necessity, but I hope that time never comes.

Neither of the author's claims is actually verified.

He's reading between the lines and imagining.

Erick supported a pro-gay, Planned Parenthood-funding "moderate" for governor of his home state over two conservatives -- he has no standing to claim to be some kind of purist and pass judgment on Thune.

I guess among all those classic cars there...Thune decided to be a “classic liberal”. Ugh

Ad hominem attacks against Erickson aside, Thune’s gift history is pretty damning.

Apparently, these are the facts behind the charges:

Thune defended Murky keeping her seniority on the Energy Committee and called DeMint out for expressing unhappiness over the GOP leadership to let Murkowski keep her ranking committee position.

I say keelhaul the mutinous traitor and banish him evermore from the company of Christian men! \sarc\

Gang of 14 ring a bell.

I think it is time to visit Mr Thune’s office. It is a short drive or phone call away. He does have reasons for what he does, and he is accessible. I have not faulted much, but the gang of 14 did give me a bad taste, despite the reasons. If I’m not mistaken, it had to do with the nuclear option.

Beward Red State. Those folks are the right’s version of journOlistas.

They trashed the Pledge for starters. I guess Erick getting a job at CNN changed his perspective on what is best for America.

I guess you missed the statements NRO put out a few days ago. They targeted Senator’s offices for their statements on Murkowski keeping her position and how they voted. Thune gave one of the weakest weaselly answers on it.

I don’t give a damn about Erickson. Sometimes he is right and sometimes he is wrong. But you can go check out Thune’s record youself and you won’t find someone who is anything but an establishment Republican.

This is all you need to know about John Thune...

“Everyone has to come to their own decision about it, and that’s the decision I have come to,” Thune said. “John Bolton is not the best man for this job.”

Thune gave money to support every single establishment Senate candidate. Including Crist & Murkowski. He sealed his fate then by attacking the American people.

Thune needs to stick to bringing welfare to Dakota. Anybody who thinks Thune could be President is delusional.
