Kenny Anderson and Nate Archibald are legitimate post-NBA success stories. Getting a degree or several advanced degrees in Archibald's case after years of professional basketball is very awesome, no doubt about that. But without disparaging those amazing accomplishments, let me offer forth Jamal Mashburn as the king of retired basketball triumphs...

Yes, it is good to read about former pro athletes who are successful outside of sports...yes so many blow their fortunes on crap, rap, and hangers-on.
Dayum. I was about to warn of the perils of a former pro athlete owning a restaurant or a car dealership, but if Mr. Mashburn owns 34 Outback Restaurants, 37 Papa John’s Pizzas, and auto dealerships in Kentucky he doesn’t need my advice.

I always liked Mashburn on and off the court. I am glad to see he isn’t following in Pippen’s footsteps.
Heath Shuler was a terrible quarterback for the Washington Redskins. Now he is a Congressman from North Carolina. Still stinks.
