Interesting article. Did not realize Mashburn was such the entrpeneur....familiar with his ESPN work and his basketball skills.

Yes, it is good to read about former pro athletes who are successful outside of sports...yes so many blow their fortunes on crap, rap, and hangers-on.

Dayum. I was about to warn of the perils of a former pro athlete owning a restaurant or a car dealership, but if Mr. Mashburn owns 34 Outback Restaurants, 37 Papa John’s Pizzas, and auto dealerships in Kentucky he doesn’t need my advice.

Not bad for a kid out of Cardinal Hayes High, on the Grand Concourse, in the Bronx. Way to go Jamaal, you are a great role model for the kids out there!

Googling around finds that his dealerships in KY are Toyota/Scion, Lexus and Porsche.

Former 16 year NBA player Chris Dudley (R) has a good shot at becoming Oregon's next governor.

If he loses, it will be to this former rat governor (Kitzhaber)...

I always liked Mashburn on and off the court. I am glad to see he isn’t following in Pippen’s footsteps.

Heath Shuler was a terrible quarterback for the Washington Redskins. Now he is a Congressman from North Carolina. Still stinks.

I read it's something like over 80% of NFL players go bankrupt within 5 years of retirement. Pretty sad.....

It takes money to make money.
Of course having a brain helps a lot.
