The Family of Medal of Honor recipient Vernon Baker was denied access to the White House's West Wing on Saturday, a day after the World War II hero was buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
Baker's widow, Heidy, and grandson, Vernon Pawlik, 10, were denied entry because the boy was wearing shorts and a T-shirt. His shirt had a picture of his grandfather on it.
A White House website doesn't list a dress code, but the family had been invited to tour the West Wing, which houses the president's office and where casual dress is prohibited.
U.S. Rep. Walt Minnick's office says he's contacted the White House to express his disappointment.
Vernon Baker, of St. Maries, Idaho, was the last living black World War II Medal of Honor winner.
The White House didn't return a phone call seeking comment.
Liberals, like psychopaths, are only concerned with themselves.
The mere presence of a military hero and his grateful family is intimidating to their insecure senses of self-worth, which is why they shun and ostracize anyone bearing an iota of valor and integrity.
Just another snub from the pResident-in-Chief. These are becoming rather routine, unsurprising events.
Your sarcasm is right on target. I’ve worked with and alongside many blacks for many years. I guess I’m a glutton for punishment but every time I talk to one of them about a notable black person I get the same response. Virtually all of them have little or no respect for such notables as Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, whom they consider to be an “Uncle Tom”. Any black person who has made it on their own merit and doesn’t drink the Democrat Kool-Aid, in their eyes is a sellout. Unless they are Oprah or Whoopi. Or OJ, who they always say was “framed”. They would just say about this distinguished soldier, “He just fought whitey’s wars”. Or something to that effect. It’s really pathetic how a lockstep racist mentality has infected most black folk in America from an early age onward. We will never be able to get these people to understand that it isn’t about their color at all. There have been too many ill-gotten “gains” playing the race card. Why stop now?
