So, reefing in the sails and summing up: American Leftists elected an empty suit and intellectual cipher who never actually wanted to BE president, he just wanted to run a campaign and make speeches, and now we’re adrift and taking on water while the world looks on and laughs.
Wonderful.
Which was a test run for how easy it would be for another apparently amiable, seemingly intelligent vacuum to run, on nothing more than vacuous slogans which mean whatever the people want to hear in them, and a man who seems to everything to everyone, to come from nowhere and be elected, and bide his time for a good crisis (possibly even contrive the crisis himself) and accrue unprecedented powers to himself over all American rights and liberty and freedom for an “unspecified” amount of time. Whoever thinks it couldn’t happen, did they think even ten years ago we could have a man with such a nebulous background as President now, who went through the motions of getting legislation passed over the overwhelming opposition of a majority of Americans, and is constantly feeling here and feeling there to see where he can push the envelope further for his own ends (or the ends of those pulling the strings)?
Something I read a long time ago that a classmate of his or a teacher when he was back in grade school in Indonesia said. He was asked what he wanted to be when he grew up and his response was: “I want to be A president”. So, yeah, he wanted to be A president with all the pomp and adoration that he imagined A president enjoyed, but he does not want to be THE president of the U.S. now that he has discovered it’s not what he imagined it to be. Nobody told him that being THE president was hard work. He loves the campaigning because that is more like the adoration that his imaginary president enjoyed. He is a boy. He is still the little boy without a father, who longs for validation of his “self”. If he were not so destructive, one could almost feel sorry for him. Just my ruminations of the situations.
