Housekeeper Nicky Diaz: Meg Whitman Treated Me Like a Piece of Garbage
ABC News ^ | 09/29/2010 | Michael Falcone

Posted on 09/29/2010 5:09:19 PM PDT by WebFocus

California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman today found herself battling allegations that she knowingly employed an undocumented immigrant housekeeper, failed to pay a portion of her wages and then fired her in an act of political damage control.

The charges come a little over a month before the November election.

At a news conference in Los Angeles on Wednesday organized by celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred, Whitman's former housekeeper and nanny, Nicky Diaz, tearfully recounted how in June 2009 she was suddenly terminated by Whitman and her husband, Griffith Harsh, after she said she asked the couple for legal help to obtain U.S. citizenship. Allred also alleged that Whitman became aware of Diaz's undocumented status years earlier, but took no action.

Whitman said the "charges are without merit."

Diaz told reporters that just a few months before Whitman announced she was running for governor as a Republican, the former eBay CEO fired her after nine years spent cleaning the couple's 3,700-square-foot home in an upscale Northern California suburb and shuttling their children to and from school and appointments.

"From now on you don't know me and I don't know you," Diaz said Whitman told her in the summer of 2009. "I was shocked and hurt that Ms. Whitman would treat me this way after nine years. I realized at that moment that she didn't appreciate my work. I felt like she was throwing me away like a piece of garbage."

Whitman’s reasons for letting Nicky Diaz go...

* Nicky had falsified the hiring documents and personal information she provided to the employment agency that brought her to us in 2000.

* Whitman described Diaz as a “friend of our family” and a faithful employee who had to be fired once she confessed to being an illegal worker.

Well, yeah, that's part of the deal between these illegals and the rich people who hire them ~ at the end somebody gets tossed like a piece of garbage.

We're busy trying to make sure it's not the American people who get tossed.

What exactly did Whitman do wrong?

The real question is, why is this news?

According to the Dims, it's not only not a big deal, the law shouldn't exist.

So what's the upset?

This sounds like Anita Hill accusing Clarence Thomas of sexual harrasment and still following him to his new office when he took a new position. Yeah, he harrased her to a point where she followed him from one job to another.

Diaz’s claims of mistreatment sounds very much like Anita Hill’s complaints.

The real story is how much money or job position was she promised for her accusations

Funny how she didn’t mention this in 2009. Is she legal now, and who sponsored her?

Mark Levin is going after Gloria Allred for ethics violations.

Alred is supposed to defend her client, not publicly
announce that the illegal alien perjured herself by
signing a document stating that she was a US citizen.

Let the fun begin !

It’s amazing at all the different “news” versions of this press conference. They fail to report her wage of $23 an hour and that she filled out all the required federal paperwork when she was hired.

RE: Is she legal now, and who sponsored her?

If she’s legal now, I’d really like to know how she managed to jump ahead of the hundreds of thousands of LEGAL migrants waiting their turns...

Anyone who claims to uphold the law ought to find out.

I just can’t get too interested in an election where one RINO wants to replace another RINO. Does anyone seriously believe that Meg Whitman would turn California around any more than Brown would? California is hopeless as long as RINOs and liberal Dems control the state. Sorry, but I couuld care less whether she wins or not. The sad thing is that Brown will drag Boxer with him to victory.
