(CNN) - The National Republican Senatorial Committee blasted out an email to reporters Wednesday afternoon with the headline that Sen. John McCain has offered $1 million to the organization.
The promise comes as the party committee is looking to pick up at least 10 seats in order to take back a majority in the Senate. NRSC Chairman Sen. John Cornyn praised McCain, saying, "It's very encouraging to see Sen. McCain step up and do this. Republicans have historically not done this like Democrats have, and that has been a real competitive advantage that they have had."
(snip)
McCain's resources are sizeable. The Arizona senator has over $17 million left in his presidential campaign accounts and, as of the August 4 filing deadline, had $1.5 million in his Senate campaign coffers.

Hate McCain or not hate McCain, this is a generous contribution that can be put to use on a number of campaigns that need financial help.
For once, kudos to Senator McCain.
Don’t you want to save the money in case you need to run more commercials about how JD Hayworth voted to fund snakes in Guam?
I hope for change in McCain’s Senate seat.
I hate him. He used his special interest money to defeat a real conservative, JD Hayworth.
I’m glad he’s giving money to them because I’m sure not.
This is to try to make certain he gets to head the defense commitee. That is more important to him than anything (and is the reason he has so much money). He bought his nomination, and how he wants to buy his committee chair. He has nothing to lose, this is his last shot.
Great a RINO slush fund...
*schruggs*...rich RINO
Sigh, McCain is “our Jimmy Carter” but I am thankful he redirected these funds...he could have given more ...but he blew too much money defeating JD by 22 points instead of by 8 points.
The NRSC called me last week asking for a donation. I said, “Nope.” They tried three different scripts. Each time I declined and explained that Cornyn’s decisions to endorse Spector and mistreat O’Donnell were the reasons they weren’t getting money from me this year. The staffer tried to tie my refusal to donate to a potential Republican loss in the Senate. She ended the call when I told her that I was directly supporting conservative candidates.
A RINO supporting RINO’s because Conservatives have told them to drop dead.
Why shouldnt he give them money, It isn’t his. It is funds given to MMcCain to campaign with, it isn’t coming out of Mccains pocket and he is old , rich ,and doesn’t need it anyway.
Why stop at a Million. make it 10.
??
mclame SPENT 24 million running against a republican.
But he is being praised for giving a 1 Million “gift”
that probably is coming from his presidential slush fund- he never used!!??
I agree. I appreciate anyone who works to defeat the Obama regime.
I thought most of his campaign funds were McCain family funds?
(Hey, if it’s coming out of Meghan’s inheritance...)
don’t thank him until we see where money goes.
if it all to RINOs in trouble then it is a meaningless donation.
How much is going to the official candidate in De? How much is going to be used to fight Murky?
How about an ad targeting MSNBC?
The picture with the article . . . ugh. Sneering, self-satisfied and just plain wrong.
Hate McCain or not hate McCain, this is a generous contribution that can be put to use on a number of campaigns that need financial help.
Only way that’ll happen is when he goes the way of Murtha...
I’m sure my honorable senator Cornyn will use the money to support Murkowski, since she’s now a few points behind Joe Miller. It’s so obvious they don’t want him to win since she wasn’t stripped of her chairmanship. The 2014 primary can’t come soon enough for me to throw that bum out.
